A great thing about SEK is the fact that it checks file
and data permissions, etc. to make sure it will work. If you are
having trouble with SEK being able to create the directory you specified
in basic configuration or in files within that directory, then try running
it in non-secure mode. We have not had this problem except with
a couple of clients whose servers were possibly misconfigured and had
other warning signs that might show up on Ivo's
list.
Here is where you can start killing search engines.
If you only make a change to your welcome screen or edit the title of
a category, you can simply click "Create Index.html ONLY"
This link is also good for testing. When you click "Create
Everything", SEK generates your static index page, category pages,
and product pages. Once you start the process, the screen will flash
until it is finished. You will also see a security warning before
the small window opens. Click "Yes". Do not mess
with the Miva Merchant administration, such as clicking on a link, until
after SEK is done. The flashing will stop, and the SEK admin page
will say "Action Completed". The small window will stop
on the last category, and you can now close it. If you decided to have
a custom static homepage rather than use the one from SEK, now is the
time to make changes if needed and upload it.
A cool feature about SEK is that it allows you to recreate
a single category and all its products instead of the whole static directory.
This is great if you only make a change to one category or a few products
that all belong to one category. Just enter the category code and
click "Update".
Another excellent and time-saving feature of SEK is the
ability to restart at a particular category id. You would need to
restart if SEK times out. If it continues to time out, you might
try reducing the amount of products SEK processes at one time as discussed
previously in the advanced
configuration section. Category ID is not the same as category code.
You will see the last category being processed in the small window.
The category id will be listed there. You should restart with this
category id.
