Many Miva Merchant store owners obsess over what has been
termed the "Google Dance", while others are left wondering what
the fuss is all about. Google Dance describes the time of month
when Google updates its index, sometimes causing fluctuations in the page
rank and rankings of pages. Hence the term Google Dance. We think worrying
about the monthly dance is a big waste of time for most Miva Merchant
store owners. You can be creating content, optimizing your static
pages and store, attempting to receive quality and relevant links back
to you website, and many other productive things instead of this mad obsession.
The one exception may be to monitor your rankings in case of a prolonged
decrease in previous rankings that possibly could require increased pay
per click (ppc) advertising to make up for decreased sales. That
is all we have to say about the Google Dance for now, but here are some
excellent resources on Google in general and their little jig.

Coping
with GDS, the Google Dance Syndrome - "My takeaway from
this is that Google is probably still working pretty well for most searchers
and webmasters alike. I think anyone who has highly optimized their
web site may be prone to continued bouts of GDS (and similarly hurt
at other search engines, when they make changes). But those who've focused
on good, solid content? They should (and do) ride through Google Dances
without even noticing that it is happening." Search
