Easily Improve Email Newsletter Deliverability
Miva Merchant store owners can easily get more of their newsletters into customer's inboxes rather then junk or spam folders.
Place the following text on the confirmation screen after the user clicks the submit button from your newsletter form. If they check a box during checkout, place this info on the invoice screen header. Having it in the invoice screen header is probably a good idea anyway so your customers receive their order confirmations.
The best way to make sure you receive our newsletter is to add some-email@your-domain.com to your contact address book in AOL or other email program. If you or your internet service provider have spam filters, please use some-email@your-domain.com or your-domain.com as an acceptable email or domain to ensure that our newsletters get to you. If you need assistance with this process or if you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your junk or spam folder for the confirmation email or contact us.
Be sure to use the email that will be used in the from address of your newsletter. Don't tell them to add some-email@your-domain.com and then send your newsletter from another-email@your-domain.com. To further assist your subscribers, add the following to the above.
Here are step by step instructions to make sure our newsletter gets to you if you are using one of the three largest email providers. Other email programs will have similar features.
AOL
Version 9.0:
Open our e-mail.
Click the Add Address button (on the right) to add to your "People I Know" list.
Alternatively, you can just send an e-mail to: our-email@our-domain.com, and that
will add us to your "People I Know" list automatically. To do this:
Open our latest e-mail.
Click the Reply button (it's in the top right corner).
A new email window opens with the wrong address in the "Send To" box.
Replace the address in the Send To box with: our-email@your-domain.com Click Send Now (in the top right corner).
Even if the e-mail you send doesn't get through to us, the act of sending it does
the job of putting us into your "People I Know" list.
Hotmail:
Click the Options link, on the main menu tabs, then Safe List.
Type: our-email@our-domain.com in your Safe List.
If you see a message that should not be in your Junk Mail folder, click
'This is not Junk Mail' to avoid having e-mail from the same source sent to
the Junk Mail folder in the future.
Yahoo! Mail
Open your Yahoo! mailbox.
Click Mail Options.
Click Filters.
Click Add Filter.
In the top row, labeled 'From header:' make sure Contains is selected in the pull-down menu.
Click in the text box next to that pull-down menu, then enter the address: our-email@our-domain.com At the bottom, where it says "Move the Message To:" select Inbox from the pull-down menu.
Click the Add Filter button again.
If our email has been filtered to your "bulk" folder, simply
open the message and click on the "This is not Spam" link next to
the "From" field.
I have seen this pay huge dividends for clients and JMH as well.
