Your ecommerce web sites and Miva Merchant stores will reside on a server with a direct fiber optic connection between our Cisco 7200 routers and UUNet's OC48 & OC192 Tier-1 backbone. There is no phone circuit, and no telecom link to get to the Internet; instead, there is an in-house connection directly to WorldComm's fiber node. WorldComm has a large investment in BGP (Border Gate Protocol) technology, which allows the traffic to your site to travel more efficiently by finding the best route for data to travel. On a typical server the traffic always takes the same route from client to server. For them, if there is a bad node, traffic does not get through at all. Because we use BGP protocol, different and more efficient routes are taken between client and server depending on traffic loads and broken nodes. Custom Servers
All ecommerce web servers are custom-built industrial machines designed for a 24/7 ecommerce web serving environment. As of August 2003 our shared servers were using Athlon XP3200 CPU's with 786 of 333MHz RAM and 40GB RAID-1 drives.
