 Our Connection
Your ecommerce web sites and Miva Merchant stores will reside on a server with a direct fiber optic connection between our Cisco 7200 routers and UUNet's OC48 & OC192 Tier-1 backbone. There is no phone circuit, and no telecom link to get to the Internet; instead, there is an in-house connection directly to WorldComm's fiber node. This fiber optic line can handle the bandwidth of multiple DS3's, OC3's and an OC12 SONET. Route Optimization
WorldComm has a large investment in BGP (Border Gate Protocol) technology, which allows the traffic to your site to travel more efficiently by finding the best route for data to travel. On a typical server the traffic always takes the same route from client to server. For them, if there is a bad node, traffic does not get through at all. Because we use BGP protocol, different and more efficient routes are taken between client and server depending on traffic loads and broken nodes. This means our servers automatically look for the fastest route available. Low Latency/High Throughput
Often providers operate their networks at three to four times responsible capacity, and as a result the corresponding transfer times reach over 300ms for each hop along the net. Custom Servers
All ecommerce web servers are custom-built industrial machines designed for a 24/7 ecommerce web serving environment. As of August 2003 our shared servers were using Athlon XP3200 CPU's with 786 of 333MHz RAM and 40GB RAID-1 drives. These servers are tied into our high speed HP ProCurve switch with fast 100Mbps eternet connections. Web Server Usage
All shared web servers never have more than six active ecommerce sites with Miva Merchant shopping cart. Should any server ever exceed a daily average load in excess of 1.0, selected clients will be transferred onto another server thereby reducing the average load rate and reducing the number of users on the effected server. |
