Back to TopThis interface module will display and retrieve customer entered information relative to customer accounts on the account create, account edit, and order customer information screens. You can even use it with the Emporium Plus Mail Manager module (sold separately) to include the information in the order notification emails.
Interface with built-in custom customer fields: The built in custom customer fields module from MIVA Corp establishes the databases and provides an admin side interface for the store owner to enter custom customer data. This module provides the merchant public side for the customer to enter data into those custom fields.
Easy token implementation: Easily place tokens on the customer information collection screens using the standard MM5 template script. You can use the common "foreach" loop to display all of them together or you can break each field out for display in various parts of the screen. For example, you may want to collect a second address line just below the first address line and then later in the screen collect the company rep the customer deals with. To view the actual look of the screen, you can go to our pinemporium.com test store and create an account. You can change values in the fields with the account edit selection on the nav bar.
Flat file export: When a new customer account is created, all of the standard field values except the pgrpcount and password are saved to a flat file log. In addition to the standard fields, values entered into the custom fields are also saved to the flat file. Additionally, date and time fields are exported so you can determine exactly when a new customer account was created. The flat file is | delimited and can be FTPd to your PC with your FTP software and then imported into other programs. You can periodically delete the flat file and it will be recreated with the next new customer account creation.
Search new customer log: You can search the flat file log created when new customers sign-up. You can search on keyword, single date, and/or date range. The standard and custom fields will be displayed. The log display includes a link to the actual customer records so you can edit and make changes if needed.
Interface with email modules: The custom field values can be displayed in the merchant and customer notification emails if you are using the Emporium Plus Mail Manager module (sold separately) to generate them.

The "Hide Prices Pending Customer Approval" module contains a wealth of functionality and customizable options. It's tremendously useful for wholesalers and other store owners that want to limit access to a known, and approved, customer base.
Product Prices Hidden
Product prices can be hidden until a customer's account has been approved by the store's owner. Optionally, prices can be hidden until a customer creates or logs-in to an account (without requiring approval of the account).
Buttons Too
The product prices û and the "Add To Cart" and the "Buy One Now" buttons û can be hidden on the Product List, Categories, Search Results, and Product Display screens. An optional, fully-customizable message can be displayed in place of the hidden prices.
Two Modules In One
The module is actually two modules û a OpenUI system module and an administrative utility Module. The system module customizes the store's look and feel and limits access to prices. The administrative utility module provides the store owner with the ability of reviewing and approving customer accounts. It's also a fully-functional and user friendly customer management utility.
Quick Approval of Customer Accounts
The administrative utility module also has a "quick approval" feature. A store's administrator can quickly search for a new customer by login, email address, or other keyword û then approve the customer with one click.
Merchant Notification of New Accounts
An optional email notification can be sent to a specified address whenever a new account is created by a customer. The subject and header of the email message are customizable.

Search specific fields and sort results. Allow a customer to search one or more fields which are made selectable by the store owner. The store owner can choose, in the admin screen, any fields within the products database or the MIVA Merchant built in custom product fields database to be available. The Power Search module uses a mirror database of your products, custom fields and categories; much like the big search engines use. By creating a mirror before the search is made, many operations to join multiple databases togethercan be avoided, so the customer gets a much faster search. Customers can also sort the results on fields like name, code, price, cost, when they were added to the store, or the default display order the store owner established for productlists. The build of the mirror database goes quite quickly and is a maintenance procedure you will do periodically. The small amount of time you take to build the mirror will save your customers significant amounts of time in their searches vs searches which don't use an optimized mirror database. Buildingthe mirror is not required just because products are added, deleted, or edited; as those processes update the mirror automatically without needing a rebuild. See the install doc for details.
Category selectable. Customers can use the category selector to select just one category to search. The default is to search the whole store. You can use the built in token which lists all categories with one or more products in them oryou can build your own select list of only certain categories.
Multiple search types. The customer can select how they want to search the database. The default is to search for products where all (boolean AND) of the keywords entered are found in the record. The customer can broaden that search so that any (boolean OR) of the words are found in the record. They can search by exact phrase so that the words must appear in thesame order in the record as was entered in the search input. They can also search the fields where the data in the field begins with the search string. This is useful for things like finding all of the products whose NAME begins with a specific letter and allows you to have a list of A-Z links that implement that specific search.
Advanced pagination. The module can display the total number of products found which match the search condition. Additionally, the pagesare numbered, e.g. Page 3 of 20, when results exceed the configurable number of products per page. You can also display alist of page numbers and links to those pages so the customer can jump to the page they want to look at. This pagination is similar to that used in the Emporium Plus Category Manager module.
Product layout template can be customized. In the 'srch' page template, there is a "search results layout". If you are happy with that layout, you can copy and paste the contents of that template into the Power Search module's product layout template. You can then modify the layout in the Power Search admin screen.
Price range searching. While searching the price field might be useful in some cases, a more popular search is price range. Within the searchable fields section, the customer has the option of entering a low and high price to create a range. If left blank, the search will not be filtered by price range.
Tell a friend module interface. If the store is using the Emporium Plus Tell A Friend module, customers can send the search string from Power Search to friends. The link in the email will go to the same page of products that the customer was on when they clicked the Tell A Friend button.
Return to search page link. After going to the product page from a Power Search rendered search, a convenient "return to search" link on the product page can bring the customer back to the original search page.
Search log with admin report. In admin, you can view the log of search words/phrases which your customers have used. This helps you from a marketing standpoint to determine the most sought after products and possibly the need to carry a new product. Additionally, it helps you identify keywords which might be useful to include in the narrative descriptions or the meta tags for search engine submissions and even local searches in your store. As example, while you might have a product called flip flops, customers might be searching for thong sandals (which is the same thing). But if you had not used those words in your description, you may have lost the sale. The log can be purged in the admin screen to reduce its size as desired.
Optimized search of built-in custom product fields. This module does not require that you use a proprietary 3rd party module for the custom product fields. It uses the built-in custom product fields module from MIVA Corp, thereby ensuring compatibility with other 3rd party modules which use those same custom product fields. No need to go down that proprietary datafield path of no return. As example, the Emporium Plus Template Data Feed module can use the built-in custom product fields to populate feeds to just about any search engine and shopping index with those "special" fields those indexes require.
Live examples. We cannot link to our demo Merchant 5 store from MivaCentral so if you'd like to see a couple of the live pages demonstrating searches, please contact us for the link. You can check out the selected field search in our test store which has about 600 products with multiple custom product fields. Try some searches so you can get an idea of search speed.
Pre-defined selectors. The Power Search function can also be used for pre-defined select pulldowns in your store. An example of genre and decade searches are in the lower left column of our test store's storefront screen. It will search a specific field, with store owner pre-defined selections. This same technique can be used for things like manufacturer searches if you have a manufacturer field in your custom product fields.
Liberal licensing. License is for ONE domain/mall. Within that single mall, it can be used in multiple stores without additional licenses.
This module requires that you are using MIVA Engine v5.03 or newer. When you log into admin, you can see which version of the engine is in use in your store.

You can also easily use a http link format for launching the Contact Manager form from static pages or within Merchant. Assign the inquiry. The Contact Manager allows you to assign the contact record to a specific technician or department with ease. That technician can then find their active contacts easily. User interface look and feel. The Contact Manager form characteristics are controlled from the module's admin configuration screen. At the admin level you can change category column button text, optional category column button image, email subject, email to address, contact screen title, customer email prompt, customer inquiry prompt, background color, font face, font size, font color, message for the submission form, send button text, and optional send button image. Even for the html novice, the form's characteristics are easily altered in admin. In Merchant 5.x you can go a step farther if you are familiar with the store morph technology (SMT) and page template editing by fully customizing every aspect of the form. With the Merchant 5.x built in SMT you can make changes to the page and even rollback changes if you don't like what you see. Customer can choose department. The module allows the customer to select the target to send the inquiry to with a select list option. This expedites the delivery to the specific technician/department's email address. As with the uncompiled version, the email addresses are hidden from email harvesting spammers. Field inclusion and validation. Department codes, descriptions and email addresses are configured through admin. The standard collection fields are name, email, subject, department, and inquiry. However, you can also have an unlimited number of extra fields in the form. These fields can be required or optional. If required and the customer does not provide a response, the form will validate and redisplay so the missing info can be supplied. What extra fields you create and use is dependant on how you will use this contact form; e.g. requests for info, pricing, availability, product details, billing, shipping, or even for customer surveys prior to checkout. Autoresponse receipt verification. When the customer submits their inquiry, the module can optionally send them an autoresponse that you have received their inquiry and how soon you will get back to them. That autoresponse email is composed and customized by you through the admin panel. You can also include the contact tracking number in the subject of the contact emails and responses, e.g. [EP #925]: How do I..... Searchable contact records. The admin section allows you to search one one or more criteria to find messages you are interested in. You can then edit the status and/or respond to the sender. The module currently fully supports the mivasql configuration of MIVA Merchant 5. It also supports MySQL as long as load balancing has the data stored on the single MySQL server. This would be the case in most of the server setups. For those that are not, we are in the process of converting the code for that remaining, very small group of MIVA Merchant stores. At this time we have not had a problem. Modules will be moved to the top of the queue as needed. |

Add additional field data within the product narrative description. This data will appear on the screen as if it is in a separate field, but is really just part of the narrative memo field. This Merchant version 2.22 or 3.x module handles the parsing so that the customer only sees the data in the appropriate places.
No modification to the products database structure is required. No additional databases are required to support this additional data. The additional data is added into product records just as any other product data, through admin or via flat file import. This provides easier code maintainability and faster data access. Since the data is stored within the product narrative description field, that data is immediately available to the standard Merchant search function with no code modification. This is the simplest way to display additional data in the product and category screens as if it is in separate fields instead of just narrative data. By doing this, the data stands out as name - value pairs, eg Author: Hemmingway.
An added benefit is that you can have within your store products with different types of additional field data. Some products might need additional fields such as author, publisher, and date while other products might need fields such as composer, vocalist, and country of origin. This software product is an example of such a situation. Most of the products in my store are movie posters and contain additional fields related to them. That field data is stored in separate fields and maintained via prodmore (module for importing additional field data into separate fields). While this product record contains those same additional fields (naturally they are empty), I have added four fields via Flexible Product Description, which only appear in this product record. You can see them as Merchant Version, User Interface, CIM Tool Kit, Combo and New Image in the CTGY and PROD screens. In a Merchant 3.0 store, they can also appear in expanded product display screens for SRCH and PLST. I've also added the New Image field to some of the new product records to demonstrate the flexibility this feature provides. You can see the search box on the store front which lists new products by month.
New in the compiled version is compatibility interface with the OpenUI Tokens and Viking Coders product template module. Place the additional field data on the product page so that they better fit your desired look. Pseudo-fields, brief and keyword, can be used by Static
Catalog Generator to improve search engine ranking for both

Back to TopThis is a credit card module which prompts the customer for the usual information: name on card, card number, and expiration date. However, it also permits up to 4 extra fields to be configured to collect whatever payment data the shop owner desires. This data is then provided to the administrator with the other credit information when processing orders. Each extra field may be designated as required/not required. There is no credit card validation other than checking that it is a number and that a name has been entered (ie. no mod10 check). This module was born to handle British credit cards such as Switch and Delta which require other fields to be collected (and apparently fail the mod10 validation test).

The ultimate in targetted e-mailing, the eTargetMailer allows you to easily reach your customers for special offers, targetted newsletters, etc. by utilizing the Order history and Customers database from your online store.
The full administration interface for this Merchant Utility module makes setup and configuration simple. You can create and save any number of targetted e-mail templates, which contain specific targetting information as well as e-mail content. eTargetMailer offers many powerful targetting features, allowing you to direct your e-mails to customers who fit any number of profiles:
All targetting is based on either the entire Order history for your store, or a specific date range for orders. Customers who meet the profile specified in the targetting settings will receive an e-mail defined in the template, with options for specifying the Subject, From e-mail address, etc. All messages are comprised of a 'Header' content area and 'Footer' content area, as well as optional 'Product Includes' in the body area based on which qualifying products a customer has purchased.
Message content in eTargetMailer? also includes powerful 'Macro' features allowing you to easily personalize your e-mails. All customer information, such as First and Last Names, e-mail addresses, etc. (for both Bill-To and Ship-To fields) can be included in message content, as well as special macros for the Number of Orders during the specified date range, the combined Order Total, and the highest Single-Order Total. The optional 'Product Includes' sections also allow extra macros representing the Product Code, Product Name, and the Quantity ordered during the specified date range.
Once a template is defined and saved, a quick glance shows you when the last time a mailing was processed for that template, as well as the number of messages sent during the last mailing and the total sent overall. One click will start processing a template, automatically e-mailing all customers that match your target profile. No need to worry about timeouts either, as the eTargetMailer can easily scale to send e-mails to a theoretically unlimited number of customers.

Additional Product Fields Manager is an easy to use package for creating an unlimited number of new product fields. It requires no core database modifications or code changes, all additional fields are defined through an admin console. Simply define a code and prompt for each new field, and choose which screens to display it on (product, category, product list, and/or search). These options may be edited later while preserving any new field data you have added. Additionally, you can arbitrarily sort new fields at any time.
Once one or more new fields have been defined, you can start adding product data for the new fields. Product data may be added/updated in the Edit Products Screen, or in bulk using the included Import Module. Field data may contain up to 254 characters and may also include HTML/JavaScript/etc. If you haven't added any data for a new field for a product, that field simply isn't displayed for the product. In this way, different products may contain different new fields. An export module is also included.

ProdXtra lets you create, display and let customers search on new fields for your products. You will have complete control over field names and where these fields are displayed.
With ProdXtra you can give additional fields a simple name for importing and exporting, and a label (such as Year, Manufacturer, or Condition). These labels won't be displayed on products that contain no data for the fields, so you can have different fields for different products.
This module lets you choose where these fields will be displayed - search page, product list, category page and product page. You can also choose the type of field that will be imported (number, text, memo, etc.), and decide if the fields are searchable.
ProdXtra gives you complete control over all your fields in the admin.mv of your store. Included are import and export modules which allow you to import additional fields altogether, and export any fields already added via the products area in your store.

The Extra Product Fields module allows you to specify additional information for products within your store. This information is structured so that you may present it in the following fashion (as an example):

For each field, you can choose whether to display it on the product screen, line item layouts, and/or expanded layouts (affects category screens, search results, and product list pages).
