Use caution when considering any modules from modStop. Their support has been reported by umpteen Miva Merchant users as suspect and worse. Some of their modules are simple and shouldn't require support. Please contact us with any questions concerning them or their modules.

1 Swap Link Weiland / Miva Central

Converts your category and product links to single parameter URLs so that search engines will index your Merchant pages. Many search engines will only index URLs which have just one value after the ? character. This shortened URL is swapped with the original URL links for the category names in the category tree and the product names on the various list pages and category pages. Alternatively, you can use URLs which are similar to the original URL links, but with the Store_Code removed. These shorter (modified URLs) can be indexed by most search engines. By using this method, you don't need an external handler file and will still get the store indexed.

Optionally adds rollover bullets to the left of the category names in the category column. These bullets contain links in the standard URL format for Merchant so that each category has two different links on the storefront. As an added feature, if the store is a single store in the domain, the URL is optimized for search engines by removing the redundant store code which has been found to hinder search engines. This optimized URL is used with the optional bullets in the category column and also with the thumbnails on category pages.

Optionally adds text or image below the thumb on category pages, e.g. Click to Enlarge or More Info.

This module works with a handler file such as our free store4.mvc (compiled store4.mv).

The Swap Link module can further enhance your chances of search engine ranking by producing static sitelink*.htm files which list all of your categories and products with the single parameter link. This feature is configurable to allow you to optimize the sitelink pages with meta tags, key word rich text, etc. The site link pages are generated very quickly through admin. You can optionally include the price and a brief description of the item. The brief description uses either the Flexible Product Description module pseudofield called "brief" or the first 100 characters of the full product description. As long as you don't go overboard with your narrative (top of page) text, each page will be less than 100K. If multiple pages are required to include your whole catalog, a link to the next page is included on each page.

Limitations:

OpenUI look and feel only. While it can be used in a MMUI store (like this one), the editing is complex and I do not provide instructions so that you could do it yourself, as anticipated support would be significant.

Currently has not been tested with cgi type Merchant URLs, so I can't certify that it works with them.

Currently is not compatible with Viking Coders category templates. If there is enough interest, I will make an effort to include that compatibility.

If you have replaced the standard layouts (product line or product expanded) with custom, 3rd party module solutions, then the swap links will not be generated for those particular pages.

Category links use the standard category tree (column). If you have removed the left hand category column, then the swap links cannot be generated.

Create the appearance of multiple stores while retaining the simplicity of administering a single store. Carry the look of your affiliates Web Site throughout the store or assign a unique Look and Feel to specific categories.
Designate reffering URL's and/or Categories you wish to assign the appearance of a unique store.

The Affiliate Stores module tracks the Caller ID and uses either the Referring URL or the Category Code through which the user enters the store to control the Look and Feel.

The theme or unique appearance of each store is then established by assigning Affiliate or Category Specific Perpetual Headers, Footers, New Left Column, Category Tree, Body Header and Right Column display that are displayed through the use of the Display Wizard Pro.

The theme for the Referring URL or Category through which your customer enters the store will be carried throughout the customers experience in the store and will display on all screens.

You can assign up to 50 Referring URL's and as many categories as stores as you wish.

This is an Add On Module for the Display Wizard Pro and will only work if you have the Display Wizard Pro installed.

9 Soft Goods File Download Viking Coders / Miva Central

Soft Goods is a complete and secure solution for selling downloadable products with Miva Merchant. Files are stored in your Miva data directory (by default, you may also serve downloads from other locations, even a remote server), never in a public accessible directory. When an order is placed, if the order contains products which have been setup as soft goods, a unique download URL is generated for each product. This URL may be displayed above/below the invoice, and/or be sent in a separate configurable email. The URL is only valid for the maximum download attempts and/or maximum minutes you specify in admin.

Download URLs can be issued automatically or manually. You can also configure which payment modules should trigger automatic URLs, and downloads for manually approved payment methods can be approved in admin via a searchable console.

10 Y Feed Weiland / Miva Central

Export your Miva Merchant product data in the basic file format required for Yahoo Product Search (© 2003 Yahoo! Inc.). The data feed submissions automate inclusion in their beta ecommerce search directory. Fields included: code, product-url, name, description (html removed), price, image-url, merchant-category, shopping-category . See "Limitations" below for products not included in this initial module release. This Miva Merchant plugin module works with both MMUI and OpenUI. No mmui.mv edits required.

Most agree, Yahoo! is the king of commercial and non-commercial directories on the Internet. Their new venture to create a listing of actual items for sale across the Internet, rather than pages with hits on keywords, is a bold attempt to better target customers and buyers in a symbiotic relationship. This is a giant leap in eCommerce, providing comparison shopping using the Yahoo! Product Search index. If you are a Miva Merchant store owner you CANNOT afford to miss this opportunity, especially since inclusion in the beta test index is currently free. How much have you invested in getting your store's search engine rankings? If you find you are getting traffic and earning revenue from this venture, you may find it beneficial to stay on after the beta period has ended. This gives you an opportunity to "test the waters".

A module designed for the specific purpose of creating a data feed for Yahoo! Product Search (© 2003 Yahoo! Inc.), rather than a generic data export can include features which make it the best solution for the task:

  • Include an affiliate code in the URLs so that you can better track where actual sales are coming from
  • If your store is a single store in the domain, you can remove the Store_Code from the URL to aid in search engine spidering
  • If you are using our Flexible Product Description (recommended) or our Edit More (only for the very experienced) modules, the additional field data can be added to the description for the general products data feed.
  • Y Feed plugin module creates the datafeed flat file directly from your admin
    • Frequent, no hassle submissions keep your data current in Yahoo Product Search (© 2003 Yahoo! Inc.).
    • Eliminates the need to copy product and category databases from the server to your PC to produce a flat file export with software such as MS Excel
    • Uses your data as it exists within admin at the moment it is run
  • Control over category insertion
    • Limit export to specific categories
    • Automatically builds the category hierarchy from each product's category up to top level category
    • Add Yahoo! category names, in addition to the actual category hierarchy
  • Removes html from your product descriptions
  • Included in the module are features to eliminate timeouts when generating the data feed export of large numbers of products
  • Exports to your documents directory rather than your data directory for ease of capture and transmittal

Don't delay. The Yahoo! Product Search (© 2003 Yahoo! Inc.) index is still in beta. As such, knowledge about it is not yet widespread due to limited promotion. The The Yahoo! Product Search Team has been reviewing requests for inclusion and currently have a very fast turn around time. Your store may or may not be accepted and I would expect it to take longer and have more stipulations for acceptance and continued inclusion as this service becomes more popular. You should request acceptance into The Yahoo! Product Search Team as soon as possible. Once accepted, whether you use our module for building the datafeed or some other software, you should do it now while time is on your side. Our Y Feed module produced the file that was used to get 500+ of our pages listed.

As this is a new endeavor for Yahoo! Inc., I expect them to change their format and add new capabilities over time. Licensees of the 4.x version of this module will have free upgrades of the module through the 4.x version.

    Limitations:
    1) Currently the module can only be used for the general products export for Merchant 4.x uncompiled. With the compiled version (Merchant 4.14 and newer) of the module, you can export book, music, and video type products if you are using one of the additional field methods above.
    2) We will be upgrading the Y Feed module for compiled Merchant (4.14 and newer) to include the following product categories in the future: video games, computers, and electronics.

    11 Category Breadcrumbs Plus Netblazon / Miva Central

    Display "breadcrumbs" - a trail of categories from the homepage to the current category or product - at the top or bottom of your category and product screens.

    12 Software / Content / Access Delivery truXoft / Miva Central

    Upon the order completion the module creates a temporary directory with cryptic name (you can define the length of the random cryptic directory name), locks it with user name/password and copies there all ordered products or documents that are set up for download (or remote access - e.g. at courses or member restricted websites). Beyond the (optional) login/password, it allows an additional security with (optional) crosschecking of cookies, IP address, browser version and several other parameters. You can also set the account expiration time after which the directory will be automatically removed. All this runs with symbolic links, it means the original files or documents are stored out of the public area, in the Miva data directory and they are not transferred or copied physically. So for example if you have a software product or a document for download of 1MB and 100 active customers, it does not take 100MB of disk space, but still just 1MB - and additionally the account creation is much faster and less resource intensive than when copying whole files.

    Notifications with the download links may be sent to the customer either immediately upon the purchase with a selected payment method (e.g. a credit card) or after approving the order manually from the Ultra Batch Report. If you do not own the Ultra Batch module, you can use the MmHTML (Merchant Notification Email module) instead of the MmHTMLc (Customer Confirmation Email module) and forward the received Merchant notification e-mail to the customer after approving the purchase.

    • Software, Content, Website access delivery through protected URLs
    • Multiple protection: cryptic URL name, password, IP address, host name, cookie, browser version, language settings,...
    • MmPASS optionally either re-uses Miva Merchant passwords or generates own secure random passwords of defined length.
    • Account expiration time may be set from seconds to years long
    • Subsequent orders of a customer may be optionally kept in his personal folder or in a new folder with separate settings and protection.
    • No neccessity to set up each product individually. All files may be set up quickly with a single customizable name pattern to avoid complicated settings.
    • Original data are stored in the non-public Miva data directory with no access from the web.
    • No files are being copied - only a single set of the original files remains on the disk. Virtual copies are created without moving any data, through symbolic links.
    • Solution with symbolic links means no additional disk space requirements
    • Creating symbolic links is much faster and less resource intensive than copying of files
    • NO external cgi programs are necessary and therefore high compatibility and easy installation is provided
    • Each product may be associated with a single or multiple files, documents, directories, URLs or with a whole tree structure.
    • You can mix software and hardware (downloadable and non-downloadable products)
    • Different files / URLs may be optionally offered for products with attributes / options.
    • Product attributes / options may be served as independent products (same file for all products) or another file may be defined for each product/attribute combination.
    • At each product, different files may be served for users depending on their location or other parameters.
    • You can deliver the URLs do the customer immediately upon payment (with MmHTMLc) or later after a manual approval (with MmHTML or with MmPSLP and the Ultra Batch Report)
    • NEW: You can select payment methods for automated and manual processing
    • NEW: members/customer may now use common entry URL (simple to remember)
    • NEW: Admin interface in Ultra Batch - account managment
    • NEW: individual expiration time for each product may be set now
    • Supports Miva Merchant 2, 3 and 4 on Unix / Apache and with some restrictions also on Windows servers
    • Does not require OpenUI. Works with both OUI and MMUI.
    • No OUI hook conflicts - truXoft modules are 100% conform to the Miva Merchant API, they do not use OUI extensions and therefore never cause hook conflicts with other modules, otherwise common at OUI modules.

    The OpenUI Look & Feel module replaces your MMUI module and provides central 'hooks' through which module developers may easily add features and performance enhancing solutions without having to reinvent the wheel with each Merchant release.

    We went all out with this latest release of the OpenUI. We have included the following enhancements:

    • OpenBatches™ - This simplifies order processing in Miva Merchant like never before. You no longer have to go back and forth between the left-hand tree and right-hand main window. From the right hand main window, searchable lists allow you to search, view, edit, or delete batches. This screen also allows you to view orders within a particular batch via OpenOrders™, shows if you have new orders, and even enables you to create a new batch. This all happens from ONE interface.

    • Shorter URLS for Google - It was recently announced in a newsletter geared toward search engines and Miva Merchant that category and product pages without the store code in the url were being readily indexed by the top search engine in the world, Google. If you only have one store, the OpenUI will automatically remove the store code from all urls in the category tree, product list, search results, and basket contents screen. If you have two stores, your store code will remain in the url.

      Example:Instead of merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CODE&Category_Code=CATEGORY, it will be: merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=CATEGORY This applies to compiled stores with the mvc extension as well.

    • Category and Product Names First in Title Tags- Miva Merchant and previously the OpenUI put your store name before the category and product names in their respective screens title tag (i.e. Store Name: Category or Product Name). Depending on the length of your store name, your category and product titles may not be appearing in your search engine listings title phrase! With the new and improved OpenUI, your category and product titles will be first in the title tag, resulting in better listings within search engines (i.e.Category or Product Title: Store Name).

    • A New (Optional) Interface for the Miva Merchant Navigation Bar (navbar)- You now have better (and more) control over which navigation buttons are displayed, as well as many other features including:
      • Ability to specify cellpadding and cellspacing of navbar.
      • Optional navbar background image.
      • Options to align navbar (i.e. Full, Center, Left, Right).
      • Ability to change navbar buttons including the logo to space, text, etc.
      • Token replacement in the Cell "links" can be done using the %VAR(varname )% convention. For example, to include the g.sessionurl, just use "%VAR(g.sessionurl)%". To include the store id, use "%VAR(Stores.d.id)%". Most available variables can be used, but they will all be filtered through the encodeentities() function before they are substituted.

    Permits static URLs to be used to direct customers: When you construct your URLS for the static navbar, in the Account URL, use Screen="SACNT" (instead of Screen=ACNT) to direct the customer to the account page if logged in or to the Login screen if not.     17 Order Status Manager Viking Coders / Miva Central

    This module provides you with the tools you need to let your customers check the status of their past orders. It adds a link (or links, in up to 13 different positions), to the Merchant pages which customers can use to access their order history. The customer is given a display of all of their past orders. They can view the details of any of the orders, and even search them for details. The tracking numbers themselves can be direct links to the shipper's website tracking page, so the customer can check the status of their order with simple click on a link. The merchant, can access a listing of all orders, searchable by customer, date, orderid, shiping status, tracking number, etc., change their status, enter tracking numbers (for orders and even individual products), and have an email sent to the customer notifying them of the change. Shipping labels can be displayed and printed for each order. The format of the shipping label/packing slip is completely configurable using tokens.

    The merchant can individually configure many of the features of the module. For example, the status themselves are NOT predefined. The Merchant can configure these to be whatever he wants. Similarly, the "tracking types" can be configured, complete with a URL to use for that type of tracking number. When the tracking number is displayed to the customer, that URL is used to take the customer to the shipper's tracking page. The module comes preconfigured with the URLs for UPS, USPS, and FedEx but adding additional tracking types is simple. The merchant can select to send an email when the status of an order changes. Email can be sent to the customer's billing, shipping, or both, email addresses. Separate text for each type of email can be configured (ie. separate email text can be configured for when the status changes to "shipping", or "back-ordered", or whatever). The email text can include dozens of possible tokens that can be used to represent the customer's details (first name, last name, login, password etc.), tracking status, link to the customer's orders status page (it automatically logs them in), link to the storefront, and many more. The module does not require that the customer be logged in for their order data to be saved. Of course if the customer was not logged in when they placed their order, they won't be able to view the order later.

    The module maintains a separate database of the orders which is a duplicate of Merchant's order databases, including the payment and shipping details. So you can delete orders from within Merchant admin, but the customers will still be able to view their past orders. The Order Status orders can be deleted from within the modules admin interface. That interface also provides the ability to search the orders by date, customer, tracking number, tracking type, and status. The order details can be viewed, and tracking status, number, and type, can be set for individual products within the order.

    20 Tell A Friend Weiland / Miva Central

    Provide an easy interface for visitors to refer your site URL to their friends. It uses the Miva SMTP capability. The subject and body of the Tell a Friend email message is configurable through the Merchant admin interface. The form colors and fonts that the customer sees is also configurable in admin. You can choose to have a blind CC sent to the store email address and a log entry (date, from, to, product code - if applicable) maintained in a flat file when referrals are sent. If the customer sends the referral email when they are on a specific product screen, a second link to the product is included in the email. In Merchant 4.x and if you are using our Gift - Wish List module, there is a convenient button on the bottom of the Gift List display that sends the Gift List URL to your friends.

    The module is MMUI and OpenUI compatible. If using the MMUI, two edits are required in the mmui.mv. With MMUI, you can place the button just about anywhere on the screen that you want it, the most common location being at the bottom of the category column. With the OpenUI, you can select through admin among the eight possible locations.

    New in the compiled version is compatibility interface with the OpenUI Tokens and Viking Coders product template module. Place the Tell-a-Friend button on the product page so that it better fits your desired look. Also, new in the compiled version is the ability to send the search string to a friend if your store is also using our Power Search module. Clicking the link will reproduce the search the original friend had created with Power Search prior to sending the Tell-a-Friend email.

    In the compiled version, you can use this module with the standard MMUI, as mmui.mv edits are not required in Merchant versions 4.14 and newer.

    New in the compiled version is an alternate template form for the customer to enter friend names and email addresses, plus an option to allow them to include a note. This template can be HTML customized to suit your look and feel. If you are not skilled at coding HTML, you can still use the default (built in) form which is customized with colors, fonts, etc with easy inputs in admin.

    New in the compiled version is the ability to embed certain tokens in the tell a friend email. For example, if you are using our Coupon Redemption module with its unique coupon code generation feature you can insert a token like %module|couponrd|1~TELL-% in the body of the email. If you are on a product page when you send the email, the email can also contain the product name, image or thumbnail, and price by using tokens. Also, new in the compiled version is the ability to send the email as HTML formatted instead of plain text.

    New in the compiled version is the ability to send the search string to a friend if your store is also using our Power Search module. Clicking the link will reproduce the search the original friend had created with Power Search prior to sending the Tell-a-Friend email. This is similar to the link you can send for the Gift/Wish list if you are using our Gift List module.

    The compiled version of this module can use OpenTokens instead of hook points within OpenObjects. The OpenDesigner screen lists the OpenObjects which can replace all or some screens within the OpenUI user interface. The OpenObjects provide a template screen which contains the existing hook points (backward compatibility), OpenToken capability, and the ability to move output around within the OpenObject screen. Since the tokens in this module conform to OpenToken functionality, they may be used in other template type screens like those provided by Viking Coders. Place the Tell-a-Friend button on the Merchant pages so that it better fits your desired look.
