Membership SuperMod for Discounts Sales and Membership Rewards
The Membership SuperMod allows you to create Membership Groups in Miva Merchant giving the store owner ways to reward customers through Customer Appreciation Discounts, Sales and Points that can be redeemed for a discount. The storeowner can make various Membership Groups allowing the owner to offer different levels of Membership (and its benefits) depending on the “level of loyalty” of the customer. Customers can be automatically moved from one Membership Group to the next as their purchasing increases. The Membership SuperMod also provides facilities to create special time-based sales for all shoppers in the store.
Key Benefits:
User Interface Independent: Utilizes standard features of Miva Merchant for setting discounts and availability. Can be used with MMUI and OpenUI.
Full automatic control of all Price and Availability Group customer assignments. Membership Groups define a set of price and availability groups that are automatically applied to all members of the Membership Group.
Membership Groups can have a set beginning date, expiration date or specific duration
Configurable to display discounts as a price reduction in the basket and checkout screens so customer is aware of their savings
Basket price adjustments are performed when a user logs in; thus allowing the customer to take advantage of their membership even if they log in after shopping.
Membership and Sales Features:
Time-duration based sales: The store administrator can configure special “Automatic” membership groups that apply to every customer immediately upon login. This is useful for creating special sales periods where all shoppers receive a discount on any or all products in the store
Membership Rewards Program: Provide multiple levels of discounts to customers based on their purchase history. Memberships into discount (price) groups can occur by point accumulation, purchase accumulation, or points spent.
Points Redemption Program: Provide a points redemption program where customers accumulate points based on purchase history, then can receive discounts in the store by redeeming points for discounts.
Exclusive Membership Groups: The storeowner can create membership groups that remove the customer from all other groups as they enter an exclusive group.
Automatic entry into membership groups based on:
Purchase of a specific product
Prior Price or Availability Group membership
Entering Membership Code into the customer account
Automatic removal from membership groups based on:
Allowed duration of a membership
Expiration date of a membership
Entry into an exclusive group
Manual expiration by administrator
Customer benefits:
Receive pre-established discounts at checkout when part of a Membership Group
Accumulate points when making purchases
Redeem accumulated points when making purchases
Receive pre-established discounts and earn/use points even if login to Membership Group during a shopping session
Pay with dollars (in addition to points) if there are not enough points accumulated to cover the cost of the entire order
Storeowner has complete control when creating Membership Groups
Optionally create a “Signup Fee” for the Membership Group
Limit the duration of a Membership Group (in days) – great for running sales!
Manually adjust the number of points in a customer record
Allow or disallow points to be used to pay for tax or shipping
Include Price and Availability Groups in the Membership Group
Track total purchases, discounts, points earned and points spent by customer
Add customers to a group and individually specify their end date within the Membership Group
Determine thresholds for automatic inclusion of a customer in a Membership Group
Product Requirements: The major features of the Membership SuperMod are provided through the standard Miva Merchant API. Thus, this module can be used in any Miva Merchant 4.x store. However, in order to redeem points at checkout and fully customize the module display and layout features, you must be using a UI module that provides templates or tokens- either OpenUI or MMUI with the Copernicus DynamicTemplate Engine. OpenUI users who also have the OpenUI SuperMod can perform additional customizations that are not available when just using OpenUI.
Uncompiled Miva Merchant 4.00-4.13:
OpenUI 4.9+ based stores
MMUI based stores
Miva Merchant 4.14+
OpenUI 4.9+ based stores
MMUI based stores
When the Membership SuperMod is used with Dynamic Templates for MMUI-based stores or with the OpenUI SuperMod for OpenUI-based stores, the storeowner can take advantage of the templates and tokens available in these modules thus allowing the storeowner to tailor the module output to his specific needs.
The CheckOut SuperMod allows your customers to determine the shipping method for each individual item in a single order and then the appropriate shipping and tax calculations are made to determine the total shipping amount for the entire order. Items in an order that are using the same shipping method are grouped to properly calculate the shipping price for the group of items. Now your customers can check out of your store with multiple shipping methods or shipping addresses* in the same order and the shipping is calculated properly.
Key Benefits Include:
Advanced Shipping Screen that gives customers the ability to select a different shipping method for every item in the order
When the Advanced Shipping Screen is used, the items in the order are internally grouped by shipping method so that items using the same shipping method are calculated and displayed together
Customer can choose to go to Advanced Shipping Screen to ship every item via a separate shipping method or can choose to not go to the Advanced Shipping Screen and instead ship everything in the order using the same shipping method
Configurable title for the link to the Advanced Shipping Screen from the payment/shipping selection checkout screen.
Shipping charges from the Advanced Shipping Screen can be viewed on further checkout screens including the Screen Invoice and emailed invoice
Return to shopping after having used the Advanced Shipping Screen and the settings are remembered for checkout and shopper is automatically taken to the Advanced Shipping Screen upon checkout
Ability to split line items of multiple-quantity products into individual line-items for different option selections including shipping and address* selections.
Works with existing third-party shipping modules
Integrates and shares data with the Shipping SuperMod and Address SuperMod from Copernicus giving you even more functionality!
When used with the Address SuperMod, each item in the order can be shipped to a different address. Upon checkout, items to common addresses using common shipping methods are grouped together, and proper shipping charges are applied to each shipment. Further, items are then grouped by address for proper tax calculations to each address in the order.
Extra functionality for users of the OpenUI SuperMod – Special Virtual Modules and tokens are provided for advanced control over checkout displays. Bonus Virtual Module provides the ability to “Split Line Items” in the basket (normally only appears on advanced shipping screen).
Note: Multiple address selections are only available when used with the Address SuperMod.
For complete control of the checkout process the Address SuperMod™, CheckOut SuperMod™, and Shipping SuperMod™ all work together. Each item in the basket can then be shipped to a different address using a different shipping method. Shipping methods available to each address can be filtered based upon the products in the basket, the destination, etc., and shipping and tax for each shipment is calculated individually.
Please Note - The CheckOut SuperMod significantly alters the checkout process of your store. The CheckOut SuperMod takes the checkout process beyond that allowed by Miva Merchant, which is why the module allows your customers to checkout of your storefront with multiple shipping methods and/or to multiple addresses (when used with the Address SuperMod) in a single order. Please be sure to test-drive this module on Miva Mia with any other third-party modules you have installed. To get a free distribution of the CheckOut SuperMod for use on Miva Mia, just fill out a Trial Request Form at http://www.copernicusllc.com/support/free/trial.
OpenUI Supermod is an excellent module designed to allow site control beyond any other means. It allows micro-control at high speeds, instead of using bulky modules that take over entire screens and take longer to load. However, it's kind of difficult to learn, and it takes some time to find the hook points and use the SuperMod admin to make up a Virtual Module (VMod). I've found that the benefits are worth the effort, but I sure would have loved a shortcut to the VMods I wanted.
Well, this DoublePlus VMod Pack has eight highly useful VMods to give you that shortcut. Even better, you can modify all of these easily in the SuperMod admin by simply replacing the text you don't want with the text you do want - without knowing MivaScript! These VMods are in a single Zip file for your convenience.
1. Change Email to E-mail: Consistency is highly important in a web site from a usability standpoint. Miva uses Email, while most sites use E-mail. So, if you prefer E-mail, then this VMod is for you!
2. Login and Account Screen Enhancements: This VMod allows you to make many changes on the login and account screens for a more customer-friendly account creation, edit and login process. It changes all instances of Login to Sign In. It has replaced text in several other areas.
3. United States Only Account and Checkout Changes: This VMod is for businesses that sell only in the United States. It changes some of the labels on the account creation/edit screen and removes the "Other State/Province" field. Be sure to go to the Miva Admin and choose Countries and unclick all countries other than the United States - this will make United States appear without a drop down list. Then, go to States and remove "Outside US" from the states list to remove it from the drop down list.
4. Change Code to Item #: This VMod changes every instance of Code to Item #. If you prefer a different word, install this VMod, then edit it in the SuperMod admin to change all instances of Item # to what you want.
5. Change "Price" to "Your Price": I like "Your Price" better than simply "Price", especially when I use Price Groups. You may want to use something else, which only takes editing the VMod in the SuperMod Admin to make the changes.
6. "Ship Via" and "Pay With" Changes: Ship Via and Pay With are not very descriptive. So I made this VMod to change them. You can go in and change them to whatever you want.
7. Better Error Message: Changes "One or more required fields were not filled out correctly." to "Missing Information: One or more fields are not filled out correctly. Please look for items in RED below." Now, isn't that better?
8. Put Proper Spacing in City State Zip in Checkout: Have you been annoyed by the lack of spaces in the City,StateZip output on the checkout and invoice screens? How unprofessional does that look? Well, here's the fix!
The Returns Processing module provides an integrated Returns Processing system for your Miva Merchant store. It provides your customers a contact form where the customer can request a return and then track the progress of that return. Within the Miva Merchant admin, the storeowner can approve or decline a return. For approved returns an RMA number is generated, the returned products are tracked, and the type of credit issued to the customer can be recorded. All of this tracking information for returns requests is provided to the customer in a Return History screen that can be viewed while logged into the store.
Key Benefits Customer Benefits:
“Return Request” web page for customers to request returns
Customer chooses from a drop down list the order number for which the return is requested.
Customer selects the products in the order for which the return is requested.
Customer chooses from a drop down list the reason for the return and can also add comments/message for the storeowner
“Return History” web page for customers to track return process
Customer can return to the storefront to review all progress with the return. (Customer must have an account to access this information)
Storeowner Benefits:
Return Request and Return Request History screens are fully customizable with templates when using Dynamic Templates (MMUI-based stores) or the OpenUI SuperMod (OpenUI-based stores)
Store owner receives an email when a new Return Request is initiated by a customer
Store owner can approve or disapprove return requests
Auto-approval available based on reason for return
If return request is approved, RMA ticket is automatically created to track the return of items from the order
Storeowner can set a restocking fee and/or percent of order fee that is automatically subtracted from the refund given to the customer
Storeowner can edit the RMA number so that it matches internal systems
Storeowner can change and edit the items from the order that are included in the RMA ticket. The system tracks the return items from other RMA numbers, ensuring customers do not receive a refund on the same item more than once.
Storeowner checks off items in the RMA as they arrive back at the store
Storeowner can change the dollar amount of refund/credit for the return
RMA automatically closes when all items have been checked off as received
Once the RMA is closed, the storeowner chooses the type of credit used to reimburse the customer for the returned items from a drop down list.
When used with the Copernicus CustCredit module, the drop down list includes CustCredit as an option for reimbursement. When chosen, store credit is automatically applied to the customer’s account for the amount of the closed RMA.

If you don't know which OpenUI product you need, then THIS IS THE ONE!
The OpenUI Advanced (formerly OpenUI Standard) is ULTIMATE enhancement for your Miva Merchant store! Too many features to even begin to list, and all for a VERY LOW PRICE!! It gives you all of the features you are already used to from OpenUI Look & Feel Basic, and the following addons are include:
And the new OpenUI Turbo (double your OpenTokens speed!)
The OpenUI Look & Feel module replaces your MMUI module and provides central 'hooks' through which module developers may easily add features and performance enhancing solutions without having to reinvent the wheel with each Merchant release.
UDPATED VERSION - NEW AND IMPROVED!
We went all out with this latest release of the OpenUI. We have included the following enhancements:
OpenBatches™ - This simplifies order processing in Miva Merchant like never before. You no longer have to go back and forth between the left-hand tree and right-hand main window. From the right hand main window, searchable lists allow you to search, view, edit, or delete batches. This screen also allows you to view orders within a particular batch via OpenOrders™, shows if you have new orders, and even enables you to create a new batch. This all happens from ONE interface.
OpenOrders™ - Using the main window, you now have a searchable order list that allows you to filter by all orders, only unbatched orders, or by orders within an individual batch. You can further filter by order number, product code, order total range, and by date and time range. From this screen, you can also edit and delete individual orders. Once again, this all happens in ONE interface.
An optional statistics interface that works with both the OpenBatches™ and OpenOrders™can be unlocked with the purchase of an OpenUI Pro license key. Find out your top sellers, revenue generators, sales by the hour and day, and much MORE! Read More Detailed Information!
This additional license key is solely for statistics features and will have NO impact on existing or future OpenUI installations. All stores will continue to function with the same capabilities as before and include the great features listed below.
Shorter URLS for Google - It was recently announced in a newsletter geared toward search engines and Miva Merchant that category and product pages without the store code in the url were being readily indexed by the top search engine in the world, Google. If you only have one store, the OpenUI will automatically remove the store code from all urls in the category tree, product list, search results, and basket contents screen. If you have two stores, your store code will remain in the url.
Example:Instead of merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CODE&Category_Code=CATEGORY, it will be: merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=CATEGORY This applies to compiled stores with the mvc extension as well.
Feature added based on recommendations from JMH Web Services (jmhonline.net). *This information has been updated to reflect new findings from JMH. Google now does not have a problem with the store code.
Category and Product Names First in Title Tags- Miva Merchant and previously the OpenUI put your store name before the category and product names in their respective screens title tag (i.e. Store Name: Category or Product Name). Depending on the length of your store name, your category and product titles may not be appearing in your search engine listings title phrase! With the new and improved OpenUI, your category and product titles will be first in the title tag, resulting in better listings within search engines (i.e.Category or Product Title: Store Name).
Feature added based on recommendations from JMH Web Services (jmhonline.net).
A New (Optional) Interface for the Miva Merchant Navigation Bar (navbar)- You now have better (and more) control over which navigation buttons are displayed, as well as many other features including:
Ability to specify cellpadding and cellspacing of navbar.
Optional navbar background image.
Options to align navbar (i.e. Full, Center, Left, Right).
Ability to change navbar buttons including the logo to space, text, etc.
Token replacement in the Cell "links" can be done using the %VAR(varname )% convention. For example, to include the g.sessionurl, just use "%VAR(g.sessionurl)%". To include the store id, use "%VAR(Stores.d.id)%". Most available variables can be used, but they will all be filtered through the encodeentities() function before they are substituted.
Feature added based on recommendations from Rich Chatfield (customMvDesign.com).
Support for New Attribute Types Built-In- New Attribute Types were previously only supported in the uncompiled versions of Miva Merchant, but will now be in both the compiled and uncompiled versions, and will not require the Admin Extension installation.
Support for module Order Tabs Built-In- module Order Tabs were previously only supported in the uncompiled versions of Miva Merchant, but will now be in both the compiled and uncompiled versions, and will not require the Admin Extension installation.
Body and Head Tag Options - You don't need additional modules anymore for these two fields if you use the latest version of the OpenUI! Include javascript, cascading style sheets, meta tags, margin height and width, preload images, and much more. For example:
<Select One> Option for Drop-Down Lists - You can now include Select One as the default prompt for attributes, shipping options, and payment option drop-down lists. The default prompt is also customizable for each one. (i.e i.e <Choose Color>, <Select A Shipping Method>, <Select Payment Method>)
The OpenUI Look & Feel Pro License Key unlocks a special feature of the latest OpenUI module. Once you unlock this feature with your license, you will be able to see the total stats for the orders in one batch, all unbatched orders, or all orders regardless of classification. The stats page gives a total sales summary, and then breaks the total sales down by day-of-the-week and time of day (by the hour) the orders were made. The stats page also lists the top selling products and top revenue generators for the specified parameters. The stats are based on the filtering options you currently have set, allowing you to specify exactly what information you would like to generate. For example, if you are in the customer screen on the OpenOrders™ tab and click on the stats button, you will see the stats of that customer's order only. If you have filtered the orders based on the order total and the date range, then the stats will be based on this filter. The stats button gives you immense flexibility because it allows you to view stats using a single filter or any combination of filters. For example, you can see the top 20 products from those that purchased SOMEPRODUCT, or those that have spent over a designated amount....or use both filters. All these resources are available simply by clicking the stats button, which appears on both the OpenOrders™and OpenBatches™ screens.
This additional license key is solely for the new stats features and will have NO impact on existing or future Open UI installation. All stores will continue to function with the same capabilities as before. You can purchase a key by clicking here.
The OpenUI Look & Feel Basic...this is the low-cost, entry-level OpenUI Look & Feel product that is required for running the many 3rd Party Modules currently available. (formerly OpenUI Standard)
It can be enhanced with OpenUI addons, such as the following:
And the new OpenUI Turbo (double your OpenTokens speed!)
The OpenUI Look & Feel module replaces your MMUI module and provides central 'hooks' through which module developers may easily add features and performance enhancing solutions without having to reinvent the wheel with each Merchant release.

The Address SuperMod™ allows customers to store multiple shipping addresses with their customer account in your Miva Merchant store. Customers can select a shipping and billing address from their list of stored addresses during checkout.
Key Benefits Include:
Allows customers to store multiple shipping addresses within their account
Allows customers to choose the order Ship-To and Bill-To address from the list of stored addresses using a drop-down menu during checkout
Integrates and shares data with other checkout enhancement modules from Copernicus such as the CheckOut SuperMod and Shipping SuperMod.
For complete control of the checkout process the Address SuperMod™, CheckOut SuperMod™, and Shipping SuperMod™ all work together. Each item in the basket can then be shipped to a different address using a different shipping method. Shipping methods available to each address can be filtered based upon the products in the basket, the destination, etc., and each shipment to each address calculated individually.
Please note: when the Address SuperMod is used in a store without the CheckOut SuperMod, the customer can only choose a Ship To address (from his list of addresses) for the entire order. The customer cannot designate a separate Ship To address for each product in the order. This advanced functionality is only available when the Address SuperMod is used in conjunction with the CheckOut SuperMod.
The Shipping SuperModTM provides a complete shipping method control system that allows you to limit what shipping options are available to your customers based on criteria such as shipping address or even what products are being purchased. It allows you to rename and reorder shipping methods in your store, and provides fall-back shipping methods that can be used when no other shipping methods are available– for instance, when online shipping calculators are down.
Key Benefits Include:
Control the text displayed for each shipping method
NEW! Can be used with any user interface module including MMUI
Filter shipping methods available to the customer based on:
Number of items in basket
Subtotal of basket
Day of week
Time Ranges
Availability Groups
Ship-To Country
Ship-To State
NEW! Zip Codes & Zip Prefixes
Weight Minimum/Maximum
Bill-To/Ship-To Match
Uses existing shipping modules
Allows storeowner to constrain shipping methods available for each product in the store. Customers can only checkout of the store when all products in the order have a common shipping method. *
Integrates and shares data with other checkout enhancements from Copernicus
* If you use the Shipping SuperMod and a customer tries to purchase products that cannot all be shipped with the same method, no shipping methods will be available to the customer at checkout because your shipping rules are mutually exclusive and Miva Merchant on its own does not allow multiple shipping calculations in the same order. You can solve this by adding the advanced functionality of the Copernicus CheckOut SuperMod to your store, OR, allow for a "least common denominator" shipping method that is always available for all products. To learn how to do this, go to the Shipping SuperMod FAQ on the Copernicus website.
Example Usage:
A storefront that sells cakes and jelly beans online has a shipping problem. When a customer purchases a cake, the cake needs to be delivered overnight so that the cake is fresh upon delivery. When a customer buys jelly beans – they can be shipped using regular ground shipping since the jelly beans won’t go stale for quite a long time. Since the storefront offers overnight air and regular ground shipping, many customers are choosing regular shipping for their cakes and are very upset when they receive a stale cake 5 days later. The Shipping SuperMod allows the storefront owner to limit the shipping choices given to the customer given what the customer places in his shopping basket. Using the Shipping SuperMod, the storeowner creates shipping constraints on each of the products in the store – thus allowing the cake to only be shipped via overnight air. He allows the jelly beans to be shipped via overnight air or regular ground shipping. If the customer only purchases jelly beans, the customer can have a choice of overnight or regular ground shipping. If the customer chooses just a cake, he is given only the choice of overnight shipping. If the customer has jelly beans and a cake in his shopping basket, his shipping choices are limited to “overnight air” (to guarantee the freshness of the cake) since “overnight” air was created by the storefront owner as the “least common denominator” shipping method (i.e. all products in the store have the option of overnight air as a shipping method.) The customer can checkout of the store since the order has a valid shipping option.

Display a brief summary of items currently in each customer's basket as they shop within a Miva Merchant store, provide a storefront display of the shipping charges, and list their recently visited product pages in your store with quick link and add button.
Features: (some features are only in the compiled version - see details below)
- Summarize basket contents on most Merchant screens
- List product name or code, quantity, and price
- Use image to alert new additions made to basket
- Display a checkout link when order minimum is reached
- Use store's assigned shipping modules to preview shipping options and charges
- List recently visited product pages with easy add to basket button
- Optionally use OpenUI token to place the mini-basket in many places on the screen
- Optionally use token to place visit history outside of the mini-basket
- Owner can monitor live activity of customers visiting product pages through admin
- Customize mini-basket look in admin (color, size, headings)
- Built-in link to view main basket
- Optionally hide mini-basket if no products are in it
- Licensed per domain
- OpenUI or MMUI compatible (OpenUI recommended in compiled Merchant)
The Mini-basket "view" is configured in the admin interface. The title of the Mini-basket, column headings, font size and color are configurable. You also have the option of a checkout link appearing in the Mini-basket when a specific order subtotal has been reached, thus allowing for minimum orders if you have disabled the checkout button in the standard Merchant nav bar. You can also allow customers to preview shipping options and costs with a single click if they enter ship to location info. Customers do not need to be logged in to view the shipping options. The Mini-basket title, checkout
button, and shipping option link can be displayed with either text or image. The basket title is linked to the full basket contents
display and the checkout is linked to the checkout screens. The shipping option
link runs the installed shipping modules to display the available methods.
In the compiled version of Merchant we have included
footsteps of customers' recent travels to the product pages in the store. The display remains closed unless the customer clicks the link for the recent visits, thus not taking too much space. When displayed, an Add to basket button can be included so the customer can easily add products which they had visited earlier and now they want
to add them without having to search or drill down though the categories. This reminder of pages visited lessens the chance of forgetting something before the customer checks out. The convenient links allows the customer to quickly go back and take a look at the products again. The
recent visit history will remain available for the length the store owner has set for basket timeout. Additionally, for your customers who login, you can have the history availability
extended for any number of additional hours, as they are more likely to return and make a purchase. The recent visit history can be included within the mini-basket table or outside of it. If you want to place the visit history outside of the mini-basket, you can use tokens in the header and footers of screens if you are using the OpenUI. We
have included a "view" feature in admin that allows the store owner to monitor live activity in the store. All recent product page visits are listed the admin screen. Customers not using cookies or whose browser is creating a different session ID with each page click will not be able to display their recent history, however the store owner will still be able to see the pages currently being visited.
In the compiled version are new admin configuration options, e.g. border
color and text to display when the basket is empty. If you are using one of the sort shipping modules like our Shipping List or our Sort Shipping Plus Free Shipping Option or the Shipping SuperMod from Copernicus, you can configure the Mini-basket module to use the sort
order of those modules. You can configure the product
data column to display the full product name, or code, or a portion of the product name (20, 30, or 40 characters). In addition to the several locations available using OpenUI
hook points, you can use OpenUI tokens to place the display within headers and footers of the Miva Merchant screens. You can also make the mini-basket invisible until at least one item is added to the basket. You can also include an image in the mini-basket immediately after addition of a product to the basket. Many times customers don't realize
a product was added so they click the Add to Basket button again. By displaying a noticeable, e.g. animated, image in the mini-basket, their attention is drawn to the basket and they clearly see the addition was made.
License is for ONE mall. Within that single mall, the module can be used in multiple stores without additional license. It functions within both the Miva Merchant (mmui.mv) and OpenUI (oui.mv) look and feel modules, appearing at either the top or bottom of the category column. If using the mmui.mv, you will add one line to the mmui.mv file. Note that if your Merchant version is 4.14 or newer, you'll need to edit and recompile the mmui.mv to mmui.mvc (compiler license from Miva Corp required). Hence, OpenUI is highly recommended if you are using Merchant 4.14 or newer. If using the OpenUI, the hook is automatically set when you install the module. There are several hook point screen locations available, of which one can be selected in the module's admin screen.
The Search Friendly Links module replaces the links in the category tree and category pages of Miva Merchant with “short links” that are more search engine friendly. Miva Merchant uses long links with 4 variables. Some search engines will not follow these links while they will follow shorter links with fewer variables.
Key Benefits
Generates short-links in the category tree and category pages in Miva Merchant
Interprets short-links from any web page or email
Benefits of shorter links
Short links are generally more likely to be followed by Search Engine spiders
Easy to write (and remember) direct links to products and categories in your store
Long links may word-wrap in some email systems, causing them not to link properly
Shorter links are less likely to word wrap
Search engines frequently will not read links with multiple variables (a.k.a. “long links”) such as those produced by Miva Merchant
A typical Miva Merchant link such as:
http://www.yourstore.com/pathto/merchant.mv? Store_Code=ST&Screen=SFNT&Category_Code=CTGY1&Product_Code=PRD1
The reduction in the number of variables helps with search engine spiders
Short links are always interpreted and understood by your store when the module is installed and turned on. Therefore, any “short” external link can be used even if you have turned off the display of the short links.
Long links are always interpreted and understood by your store; so previous search engine listings and external links continue to work normally.
The “display” of the short links in your store can be disabled, though the store will continue to interpret the short links from external sources (ie: the companion product Search Friendly Store Map, emails and mailing list, etc)
The Search Friendly Links module can produce best results when used in conjunction with the companion product Search Friendly Store Map. The store map product will generate a static HTML page containing Search Friendly Links to every product and category in your store! Search engines tend to give static HTML pages (and the links on these pages) higher precedence and ranks. When used together, these two products generally enhance search engine positioning.
New In v4.02/v4.52:
Directory Style Short Links: http://www.yourstore.com/page/SC/PROD/CAT1/PROD1
OpenUI Token and Copernicus OpenUI SuperMod Template Compatible
***NOTE: In order to generate the short links with only one variable, each of the included variables are separated with a forward-slash ("/") character. Thus, no category or product should have this character in the category or product code.
Example Usage
A storefront owner that sells cakes and jelly beans online wants to improve the search engine positioning of the store. He has an attractive storefront and has made it very customer friendly (yep, you guessed it – he’s using the Copernicus Customer Service Suite) but the only shoppers who come to his site are repeat customers who originally heard about his site through “word of mouth.” He knows that if he could just get listed in the major search engines he could increase his sales, but he can’t understand why his site has not been “spidered” by the search engines. He’s not ready to “pay per click” with search engines like Overture, he just wants to get listed.
As a result of his frustration about his search engine placement (or actually, lack thereof), the storefront owner has been learning a lot about search engine optimization (SEO). He has learned that the reason his website has no placement on the search engines is because Miva Merchant produces dynamic pages with links that are not read by the spiders and robots sent out by search engines to find websites. The links are too long (those spiders are so impatient!) and spiders disqualify them due to having too many variables. Of course, he knows that it’s also very important that his pages are full of good content that can be easily logged by the search engines.
The Solution: The Search Friendly Links module will quickly solve the long links problem that this storefront is having. The Search Friendly Links module turns the long links for each category and product page into “short links” that are easily read by those spiders and robots. Further, he likes to make posts to the “Dessert-lovers” email forum; but every time he posts a link to one of his products, the links are so long they “word-wrap” and become un-clickable! So he installs the Search Friendly Links module, and starts posting short links to his products. Now his links look better in his store and his email, and the spiders are happier too!
