3 MmDbDOC truXoft / Miva Central

MmDbDOC - truXoft Data Doctor and Miva Database Editor

MmDbDOC is a tool for testing and repairing corrupted databases and database indexes. It allows you to remove duplicate records from any Merchant or non-Merchant database quickly and without downloading or importing them, directly through the Miva Merchant Admin web interface. There are three different ways of the duplicate records repair:

  • manual selection - you can select which of the duplicate records you keep, and remove the remaining one(s)
  • manual editing - you can edit the duplicates so that you keep several or all of them in the database but change the unique identifier field(s) so that the duplicate key in the index is avoided
  • fully automated - MmDbDOC will automatically remove all duplicate records from the selected database, keeping always the first found record in the duplicate set

MmDbDOC can be also used for viewing databases. This feature is invaluable for quick database verification, for retrieving data not accessible through Miva Merchant Admin (i.e. customer passwords, module settings, basket data, affiliate data, ...). Please note: We recommend viewing the raw databases containing sensitive data (passwords, email addresses, payment data) in secure mode only (SSL / https).

The PRO version includes a full featured database editor for modifying any Miva Merchant or 3rd party database tables. Fields may be quickly modified without downloading or exporting any data. New records may be added or old ones deleted. You can duplicate whole blocks of records with a simple click and edit them afterwards.

Important note: The database editor in the PRO version was designed for advanced users who understand the basic structure of Miva Merchant databases. MmDbDOC allows you to edit the raw data, but makes no verification of the data you added, modified or removed. If multiple tables are in a relation, it is the user who has to insure to edit all related tables appropriately to avoid breaking the cross table links. Unqualified editing of the databases may corrupt the store. We highly recommend backing up the entire domain and store data before removing duplicate records (repair) or before editing the databases. truXoft bears absolutely no liability in case of loss of data, corrupted databases or a broken Miva Merchant store. If any such case should occur, please restore the original data from the backup.

After repairing or editing any database, you have to pack both domain and store data in Admin!

Instructions

Installation instrucitons may be found in the readme.txt included in the distribution package. After registering your license key, in Ultra Batch (Xadmin) screen in the main frame of Miva Merchant Admin, click on the tab "databases", select the mode "database list" and click the OK button. Ultra Batch will show you the list of all pre-defined databases.

If a corrupted database with duplicate records is detected, the "Repair" button appears right in the line of the concerned database. By clicking it, you access the repair interface and see the first found set of duplicate records.

You can either:

  1. select the record you want to keep (click "KEEP Selected"),
  2. or edit the records to avoid the duplicate key (edit the fields with light blue background so that the resulting key is different at each record) and click the button "Keep multiple"
  3. or let MmDbDOC repair the database unattended (click "Automated Repair")

In case of manual repair, as described above in 1) and 2), you have to repeat the operation with each duplicate set individually. Normally, you should use the default mode of Ultra Batch hiding deleted records - select "standard" in the first small dropdown box in the right part of the Ultra Batch control panel. In case you use the mode "all", you'll have to navigate through the duplicate sets with the help of the navigation buttons right below the Ultra Batch control panel.

The navigation buttons can be used also when you want to preview all duplicate sets before starting to repair them. Please note that the filter expression (top left) and pagination (top right) of Ultra Batch have influence on the MmDbDOC output. When low numbers are selected in the pagination in sake of faster page loads, use the navigation buttons to proceed to the next page. It applies also for the database list, not only for the repair and edit interface of MmDbDOC.

Before starting to repair or edit databases with MmDbDOC, it is recommended to put the store into maintenance mode. Use the first button (the lock) in the Ultra Batch panel to close and re-open the store. We also highly recommend to back up the entire Miva Data directory containing the databases, before performing any operation on the data with MmDbDOC.

If you experience a runtime error in the store front or Admin, where the message speaks about a database index, copy the message, and after opening the mode "parse error" in the "databases" tab of Ultra Batch, paste the error into the displayed field. MmDbDOC will look up the databases and launch the repair interface.

In case you need to repair a database not listed, you can select the "3rd party dB" mode and enter the database and index paths manually to start the repair function.

Database viewer (demo and standard versions), or the database editor (PRO version) can be launched by clicking the requested database alias in the database list.

IMPORTANT: after repairing or editing any database, you have to pack both domain and store data in Admin!

4 HTML Formatted Merchant Notification truXoft / Miva Central

No more broken lines and column aligning in order notifications! MmHTML allows you to format the merchant notification: proper aligning, fonts, sizes, HTML header and footer, embeded images, hyperlinks. MmHTML adds also the payment data and a detailed user tracking information to the report.

Merchant users and owners often complain about the readability of the notification e-mail. They are not aware of the fact that classical e-mail protocol (SMTP ) does not have any text formatting features. For these reasons, IT professionals use to set their mail clients to display messages in a fixed width font. That allows seeing formatting of such texts like Miva Merchant notification e-mail, without any hassle.

There is also the possibility to send e-mail messages for example in the HTML format. HTML is supported by all current major mail clients. Among IT professionals, the HTML e-mail is not too popular, because of related security problems in some client versions, because of increasing the transferred data volumes, and maybe because of few other reasons.

However, HTML offers possibilities not available with plain SMTP and the formatting is often requested feature. The way MmHTML module implements the HTML format is secure for both sides and the transferred data is only slightly higher than at a plain-text message (in contrary to messages formatted within Outlook or other clients, where the volume may be easily the multiple of the original size).

MmHTML allows you to customize the look and feel of the notification message. You can change colors, fonts, sizes, add logos, images, formatted text and anything else you may need. At the Merchant notification, fancy e-mail formatting is probably not as important as aligning of the columns, but it may be more interesting at the Customer Notification Module MmHTMLc.

Feature List:

  • Optionally sends order information by HTML formatted e-mail instead of plain text
  • Allows custom formatting of the notification: header, footer, font sizes, colors, embeded images,...

  • Optionally sets the customer's e-mail address into the From field so, that it works on most mailservers (in contrary to the standard Merchant's notification module)
  • Supports POP before SMTP - requirements at some secured mailservers
  • Can display additional form fields like those of the Addednum or some other third party modules
  • NEW: notification including the CC numbers may be sent encrypted, in cooperation with the MmPGP module

5 Power Search v5 Emporium Plus / Miva Central

The purpose of Power Search is to allow a customer to search one or more fields which are allowed by the store owner. The store owner can choose any fields within the products database and/or the custom product fields (Miva Corp built-in utility module) database to be searchable. This module is for MIVA Merchant 5.x. We also have the corresponding module for an older version of Merchant.

Feature Details.
Easily editable templates. The module has five templates which can be used for each section of the search page. The templates have full versionhistory and use standard Merchant 5 template coding for easy update and rollback of changes. Each template is pulled into the location you want it on the search page using a render token. The templates are field selection, category selection,search scope/type, page counter and links, and product list layout.

Search specific fields and sort results. Allow a customer to search one or more fields which are made selectable by the store owner. The store owner can choose, in the admin screen, any fields within the products database or the MIVA Merchant built in custom product fields database to be available. The Power Search module uses a mirror database of your products, custom fields and categories; much like the big search engines use. By creating a mirror before the search is made, many operations to join multiple databases togethercan be avoided, so the customer gets a much faster search. Customers can also sort the results on fields like name, code, price, cost, when they were added to the store, or the default display order the store owner established for productlists. The build of the mirror database goes quite quickly and is a maintenance procedure you will do periodically. The small amount of time you take to build the mirror will save your customers significant amounts of time in their searches vs searches which don't use an optimized mirror database. Buildingthe mirror is not required just because products are added, deleted, or edited; as those processes update the mirror automatically without needing a rebuild. See the install doc for details.

Category selectable. Customers can use the category selector to select just one category to search. The default is to search the whole store. You can use the built in token which lists all categories with one or more products in them oryou can build your own select list of only certain categories.

Multiple search types. The customer can select how they want to search the database. The default is to search for products where all (boolean AND) of the keywords entered are found in the record. The customer can broaden that search so that any (boolean OR) of the words are found in the record. They can search by exact phrase so that the words must appear in thesame order in the record as was entered in the search input. They can also search the fields where the data in the field begins with the search string. This is useful for things like finding all of the products whose NAME begins with a specific letter and allows you to have a list of A-Z links that implement that specific search.

Advanced pagination. The module can display the total number of products found which match the search condition. Additionally, the pagesare numbered, e.g. Page 3 of 20, when results exceed the configurable number of products per page. You can also display alist of page numbers and links to those pages so the customer can jump to the page they want to look at. This pagination is similar to that used in the Emporium Plus Category Manager module.

Product layout template can be customized. In the 'srch' page template, there is a "search results layout". If you are happy with that layout, you can copy and paste the contents of that template into the Power Search module's product layout template. You can then modify the layout in the Power Search admin screen.

Price range searching. While searching the price field might be useful in some cases, a more popular search is price range. Within the searchable fields section, the customer has the option of entering a low and high price to create a range. If left blank, the search will not be filtered by price range.

Tell a friend module interface. If the store is using the Emporium Plus Tell A Friend module, customers can send the search string from Power Search to friends. The link in the email will go to the same page of products that the customer was on when they clicked the Tell A Friend button.

Return to search page link. After going to the product page from a Power Search rendered search, a convenient "return to search" link on the product page can bring the customer back to the original search page.

Search log with admin report. In admin, you can view the log of search words/phrases which your customers have used. This helps you from a marketing standpoint to determine the most sought after products and possibly the need to carry a new product. Additionally, it helps you identify keywords which might be useful to include in the narrative descriptions or the meta tags for search engine submissions and even local searches in your store. As example, while you might have a product called flip flops, customers might be searching for thong sandals (which is the same thing). But if you had not used those words in your description, you may have lost the sale. The log can be purged in the admin screen to reduce its size as desired.

Optimized search of built-in custom product fields. This module does not require that you use a proprietary 3rd party module for the custom product fields. It uses the built-in custom product fields module from MIVA Corp, thereby ensuring compatibility with other 3rd party modules which use those same custom product fields. No need to go down that proprietary datafield path of no return. As example, the Emporium Plus Template Data Feed module can use the built-in custom product fields to populate feeds to just about any search engine and shopping index with those "special" fields those indexes require.

Live examples. We cannot link to our demo Merchant 5 store from MivaCentral so if you'd like to see a couple of the live pages demonstrating searches, please contact us for the link. You can check out the selected field search in our test store which has about 600 products with multiple custom product fields. Try some searches so you can get an idea of search speed.

Pre-defined selectors. The Power Search function can also be used for pre-defined select pulldowns in your store. An example of genre and decade searches are in the lower left column of our test store's storefront screen. It will search a specific field, with store owner pre-defined selections. This same technique can be used for things like manufacturer searches if you have a manufacturer field in your custom product fields.

Liberal licensing. License is for ONE domain/mall. Within that single mall, it can be used in multiple stores without additional licenses.

This module requires that you are using MIVA Engine v5.03 or newer. When you log into admin, you can see which version of the engine is in use in your store.

7 Customer and Product Administration v5 Emporium Plus / Miva Central

Communication of order status with your customers is a critical element in the overall success of your store. Provide order status change emails to customers, keep track of order changes with backend administrative notes, and provide customers with an easy login view of their order status and invoice. This module is for MIVA Merchant 5.x. We also have the corresponding module for an older version of Merchant.

Feature Details.
Provide order status change emails to customers, keep track of order changes with backend administrative notes, and provide customers with an easy login view of their order status and invoice. Easily manage customer communication with this module and the related modules below.

The membership system allows you to automatically include customers into price groups when they log into your store and is based on their prior purchase history. You set up your price groups as you would any price groups and assign the applicable products to those groups. Then you specify a trigger level required for the customer to be a member of each group. You can insert tokens into the applicable screens, e.g. customer edit, welcome back returning and new customers. Then when they log in, the token runs the order history for the status codes you specify (e.g. F for filled), sums the totals, and checks to see if they meet a membership level. If they do, they are inserted into the highest qualified price group.

In addition to enhanced communication with your customers, you may want to manage product levels associated with orders and cancelled orders. Miva Merchant allows you to track stock levels of your products online. As products are placed in the basket, the level is decremented. If the order is not completed, the products are returned to the shelf when you delete expired baskets. If the order is cancelled, the products are not automatically returned to stock in the core Miva Merchant. The customer and product management modules interface with the built in internal inventory management (IM) system to improve the overall IM usability.

In the administrative interface:
  • Shipping tracking numbers, entered through admin, display in the customer account and the status update email (can be linked directly to the shipper tracking page)
  • Change the order status and optionally send the customer an order status email which can vary based on the style of the status email chosen. Email styles are created using templates with tokens for insertion of specific variables. Can update several orders at once with the bulk status update feature.
  • Run an end of day-productivity report for all dates, a range of dates, or a specific date displaying all records or just the records with a specific status. A convenient link to the order edit screen makes viewing an individual order quick and easy.
  • Re-establish inventory levels for a product when an order has been cancelled (auto-restock) or new quantities are put in your inventory.
  • Run a Stock Level Report to determine which items are nearing depletion or all products being managed for inventory. The module admin console includes an easily editable interface to change the inventory levels of all/any products in the report.
  • Export a flat file of product codes, quantity, and product name for easy mass editing/importing or to interface with your office backend systems or for re-import into Merchant itself.
  • Additional order related data can be added in the admin screen; employee code making the status change, date of the change, narrative notes about the order, numeric value (e.g. for adjustments). Multiple admin updates can be made to each order's record by any department within your store (packing, shipping, accounting, returns, etc).


From the customer account record:
  • Customers can view the status of all of their orders, including update information (e.g. tracking numbers) which is entered by the store owner through admin. The order status history display can be modified by the store owner with a template and tokens. You can even include hot links to carriers' tracking systems with the number filled in. You'll need to enter your carrier tracking URLs into the module's admin configuration screen. The number of carrier URLs you include in admin is not limited.
  • Customers can view their previous invoices as long as they are in online batches or still in the unbatched orders.
  • Even after orders and batches are deleted (you may delete processed orders to save disk space) the customer can still review the basic products listed in their order along with the shipping and payment info.
  • Customers can re-order/duplicate a previous order with a single click from the invoice (order details page) which are still in online batches (i.e. not deleted) or as yet unbatched orders.

8 Restock Shelves v5 Emporium Plus / Miva Central

Automatically delete expired baskets and restock the inventory with the products that were sequestered in those expired baskets. Emails with Sale Saver feature can notify store owner with summary restocking results and identify customer and product info in abandoned baskets. This module is for MIVA Merchant 5.x. We also have the corresponding module for an older version of Merchant.

The Miva Corp inventory management module for Miva Merchant 5.x has resulted in numerous stores having their shelves temporarily cleared. As customers place products in their baskets, the store inventory level is decremented. If the customer decides not to buy at that time and leaves the store, the products in that abandoned basket remain unavailable. When the store owner manually deletes expired baskets in admin, those basket contents are reclaimed and the products are placed back in the store inventory. Stores which have one-of-a-kind or low inventory levels of products are significantly impacted as the products are not available for purchase by other customers until the store is manually restocked. Stores which have high traffic are similarly impacted when many baskets are abandoned. This module eliminates the need for the store owner to manually restock. At a frequency determined by the store owner, this module will reclaim the expired baskets and restock the shelves. When customers visit your store the timer will be checked to determine the last time expired baskets were deleted. If deletion is due, the next customer who clicks to a Miva Merchant PRODUCT screen will launch the shelf restocking routine.

The module includes an activity log. It accumulates the numbers of baskets which were not converted to orders and have been reclaimed. It also captures the completed order totals. These numbers can be displayed for any time period. The information can be useful when evaluatingyour success at convincing "visitors" to actually buy something.

Another useful usage of this tool is monitoring how often and to what extentsearch engines spider your merchant.mvc pages. You will periodically see a glut of abandoned baskets when the restock module runs.

You also have the option of the module sending an email to you each time it restocks the shelves. This is useful in identifying problemswith your payment gateway as it identifies baskets which were reclaimed, yet had products in them. This is to be expected within reason, but if you see a significant increase, it may be because your payment gateway is down.

Included in the email is the Sale Saver feature which displays basket info when the customer info has been filled in AND there are products in the basket. So if the order was not completed, you can see who it was and what they intended on purchasing. It also tells you how far they got into checkout. If they have both the customer info and products, they are considered to have gotten to the OSEL screen. If they also had selected a shipping method, they got to the OPAY screen. In some cases, they may have even gone to pay but the payment failed to update MIVA Merchant. In this case they would also be considered to have reached the OPAY screen.

The module currently fully supports the mivasql configuration of MIVA Merchant 5. It also supports MySQL as long as load balancing has the data stored on the single MySQL server. This would be the case in most of the server setups. For those that are not, we are in the process of converting the code for that remaining, very small group of MIVA Merchant stores. At this time we have not had a problem. Modules will be moved to the top of the queue as needed.

9 Power Search Weiland / Miva Central

The Power Search module is a plugin module which implements field specific, keyword searching within a Miva Merchant 2.x storefront. License is for ONE mall. Within that single mall, it can be used in multiple stores without additional license.

The purpose of powrsrch.mv is to allow a customer to search one or more fields which are made selectable by the store owner. The store owner can choose any fields within the products.dbf structure to be available. If you have an altered products.dbf structure, it will even allow selection of those additional fields (see screen shot below).

You can also exclude a word or phrase. An example of an exclude word usage might be: You sell health food but want the ability for customers to NOT list ingredients they are allergic to. So in the product name field you might have Soup. Then if you have a field in your database called Ingredient the customer could check the name and ingredient fields for searching. In the keyword input they would put soup. In the exclude input they could put MSG. It would search both fields. If it found soup in either it would compile those products to the list. But if the word MSG appeared in either field, it would remove it from the list.

Specific category, if selected, allows one category only searches. This feature may be too intimidating if you have hundreds of categories as the pull down select would be quite long.

New for the compiled version is the ability to specify a price range for the search. Also, in the compiled version we added the ability to display links to numbered pages when the search results exceed the number of matches displayed on a single page. You can use OpenUI Tokens to place the search form in several locations in your store. You also have the ability to replace the default form with one which you design with your own html (for those who know how to write html forms). The alternate html form can also be placed at one of seven different locations on the storefront screen. You'll use the default form as a template and can then add your own layout to improve the look and feel. Also if you are using the compiled Power Search AND the compiled Tell A Friend module, customers can send the search string from Power Search to friends. The store owner also has the ability to allow customers to search the category headers and footers for the search word. Because this may slow the search, you should only use it if your store has a moderate number of categories, e.g. 100 or less. Faster servers may get decent search times with many more than that though. Added new search algorythms "Any of these", Exact phrase", and "Start at beginning". Store owners can create a list of words which will not be searched in the "All of these" or "Any of these" searches. These are words like a, an, the, and, or. It will not exclude those words in the "Start at the beginning" or "Exact phrase" searches. If you choose to use the "search single category" listing, you can modify that from the admin control panel and only list certain categories in the select list, but provide searches of all of their sub-categories. This top down search adds greater flexibility over how broad you will allow your customers to filter the categories. After going to the product page from a Power Search rendered search, a convenient "return to search" link on the product page will bring the customer back to the original search page if using OpenUI.

Power Search (version 4.63) has been tested with OpenDB (version 2.2) and is compatible. In tests by James at Copernicus, the Power Search improved the performance of the already, very fast, SQL searches.

For store owners who have found their searches take too long, you can reduce the search time by only searching one or two fields. The Merchant default is eight fields, including fields such as weight. Now, how useful is that? Finally.... the store owner has control without editing the db.mv code library.

The total number of products found is displayed along with the list of products matching the search criteria.

In admin, you can view the log of search words/phrases which your customers have used. This helps you from a marketing standpoint to determine the most sought after products. Additionally, it helps you identify keywords which might be useful to include in the narrative descriptions or the meta tag for search engine submissions.

This module works with both the MMUI and OpenUI User Interfaces (versions 2.22-4.x). If using the MMUI, six edits in the mmui.mv file are required, and one optional edit if you want to remove the archaic standard Merchant, keyword search. If you have compiled Merchant (4.14 or newer) that requires editing and re-compiling, so for compiled Merchant, OpenUI is required unless you have the compiler license. If you are using the OpenUI, Power Search plugs into the OpenUI without editing OpenUI modules and there is no need for compiling in Merchant 4.14 and newer.

See the screen shot below, then check out the selected field search in our store. We have about 600 products in our store so you can get an idea of search speed on a moderate speed server.

The Power Search function can also be used for pre-defined form pulldowns in your store. As an example, the genre and decade searches on the left side of this screen search a specific field, with store owner pre-defined selections. This same technique can be used for things like manufacturer searches if you have a manufacturer field in your products.dbf.

10 Basket Price Group Recalc v5 Emporium Plus / Miva Central

Recalculate the basket prices based on the price group a customer is in when they log in. Normally, if a customer is not logged in when they place items in the basket, the basket price will be a non-price group price, even after they log in at check out.

Features:
- Automatically recalculate basket prices when logging in
- Exclude specific product codes from the recalculation
- Safety check price change to ensure it does not raise it
- Token available to force recalculation in addition to the automatic log in recalculation (Merchant 5.x only)

Feature Details.
Automatically recalculate. When the customer logs in, the module will determine the price group status of the customer. If they are in a price group, it will recalculate the prices in the basket to reflect the price group prices of the items.

Product exclusion. In some cases, you may not want to recalculate the basket price for specific products. As example, there are 3rd party modules which adjust the basket price based on other factors set by those modules. The External Product Purchase (sold separately), Size Pricing, Dimension Pricing, Override Pricing modules allow the customer to enter values in the products' attributes which ultimately effect the basket prices of the products. This product exclusion feature lets you exclude those products from the recalculation process. The basket price will remain as it was calculated by the 3rd party module that originally controlled the addition of the product into the basket.

Safety check. The module will verify that the price group recalculation will actually lower the price. Some 3rd party modules discount item prices at the time they are added to the basket, based on a variety of factors. An example of this is Volume Pricing (sold separately). If the customer orders in quantity and you have set the threshold so they will get a price break for multiples of the item, the item will be added to the basket at a price lower than its individual item price. In some cases, that value could even be lower than price group prices. The recalculation module will compare the two prices and use the lower of the two for the basket price.

Additional token. The additional token feature is in the Merchant 5.x version of the module only. This module will make the recalculation at the time the customer logs in. In some cases, you might want to force the process again. For example, the Emporium Plus Customer and Product Administration module (sold separately) has an automatic price group promotion feature. If you set that to occur when they log in, it actually happens when the screen displays at the point you place the token to do that. As the recalculation module does its automatic feature before the screen displays, the customer would not get the full advantage of a promotion to a new price group. Hence, if you are using a price group promotion feature in another 3rd party module, you can follow that process with a forced basket price group recalculation.

11 Custom Customer Fields Interface v5 Emporium Plus / Miva Central

This interface module will display and retrieve customer entered information relative to customer accounts on the account create, account edit, and order customer information screens. You can even use it with the Emporium Plus Mail Manager module (sold separately) to include the information in the order notification emails.

Interface with built-in custom customer fields: The built in custom customer fields module from MIVA Corp establishes the databases and provides an admin side interface for the store owner to enter custom customer data. This module provides the merchant public side for the customer to enter data into those custom fields.

Easy token implementation: Easily place tokens on the customer information collection screens using the standard MM5 template script. You can use the common "foreach" loop to display all of them together or you can break each field out for display in various parts of the screen. For example, you may want to collect a second address line just below the first address line and then later in the screen collect the company rep the customer deals with. To view the actual look of the screen, you can go to our pinemporium.com test store and create an account. You can change values in the fields with the account edit selection on the nav bar.

Flat file export: When a new customer account is created, all of the standard field values except the pgrpcount and password are saved to a flat file log. In addition to the standard fields, values entered into the custom fields are also saved to the flat file. Additionally, date and time fields are exported so you can determine exactly when a new customer account was created. The flat file is | delimited and can be FTPd to your PC with your FTP software and then imported into other programs. You can periodically delete the flat file and it will be recreated with the next new customer account creation.

Search new customer log: You can search the flat file log created when new customers sign-up. You can search on keyword, single date, and/or date range. The standard and custom fields will be displayed. The log display includes a link to the actual customer records so you can edit and make changes if needed.

Interface with email modules: The custom field values can be displayed in the merchant and customer notification emails if you are using the Emporium Plus Mail Manager module (sold separately) to generate them.

Limitations:

  • Custom customer fields are used for customer records. If the customer does not create or have an existing account, there is no place to save or use the information. Hence, on the 'OCST' checkout screen, it is best to wrap the custom customer field inputs within a conditional check for customer ID.
  • There is no validation to ensure the custom fields are filled in. Therefore, they are all optional.
  • If you want to display the custom customer fields in the notification emails, you will need to use an email module capable of using custom field tokens, for example the Mail Manager.
  • The inputs will disable html and SQL injection hacks. It is expected customers will be entering text or checkbox entries. While textarea inputs can be used, internal actions will be taken to reduce hacker attempts. So if you need custom fields that will accept html, this module is not for you.

12 Tell A Friend v5 Emporium Plus / Miva Central

Provide an easy interface within Miva Merchant for visitors to refer your site or specific product URL to their friends. It uses the built in Miva SMTP capability to send the email. You can use HTML formatted emails instead of plain text. Use the render token to place the Tell A Friend button on any page in the store. This module is for MIVA Merchant 5.x. We also have the corresponding module for an older version of Merchant.

The subject and body of the Tell a Friend email message is configurable through the Merchant admin interface. In addition to the easy to use, built-in form, there is an alternate template form for the customer to enter friend names and email addresses, plus an option to allow them to include a note. This template can be HTML customized to suit your look and feel. If you are not skilled at coding HTML, you can still use the default (built-in) form which is customized with colors, fonts, etc with easy inputs in admin.

You can choose to have a blind CC sent your store's email address. The module can also insert a log entry (date, from, to, product code if applicable) maintained in a flat file when referrals are sent.

If the customer sends the referral email when they are on a specific product screen, a second link to the product is included in the email. If you are using our Gift List module (Emporium Plus - Weiland), there is a convenient button on the bottom of the Gift List display that sends the Gift List URL to your friends.

You can embed certain tokens in the tell a friend email. For example, if you are using our Coupon Redemption (Emporium Plus - Weiland) module with its unique coupon code generation feature, you can insert a token like %module|couponrd|1~TELL-% in the body of the email. If you are on a product page when you send the email, the email can also contain the product name, image or thumbnail, and price by using tokens.

The emails can be multipart so that you can have both text and html sections of the email and the recipient browser will automatically select which section it is able to display.

You can have the Tell A Friend form on a page in Merchant or use it in a popup screen. You can display a thank you message after the submission and if you are using our coupon module, can generate an on-the-fly, unique coupon code.

16 Tiny Cart and History Helper Viking Coders / Miva Central

TinyCart and History Helper allows you to create a template-based mini-basket, running subtotal, and/or recently viewed items display. The templates can be be shown above or below the category tree header or footer or above the tree sign-in link, as well as embedded within our Category/Product Page Template modules.

The TinyCart and History Helper are configurable independent of one another. Rather than being stuck with a default layout, the display of either can be entirely customized using a wide range of tokens such as thumbnail, product code, name, price, subtotal, basket/checkout URLs, etc. For advanced users, additional variable tokens are included which allow access to all global, system, and database variables available in Merchant. The recently viewed items can also be embedded as a token within the basket viewer itself.

To illustrate the display control offered, the default template for the recently viewed items displays as a drop-n-go drop down list. The drop down list is nice as it takes up a small amount of screen real estate, but you can change the template to something similar to the mini-cart. Or, use your imagination and come up with an entirely new template.

Both viewers optionally allow alternate text/html to be used if there are no basket/recent items to show. Additional settings for recently viewed items include the maximum number of items to display (1-99) and the number of minutes before recently viewed items expire (1-9999).

You can also give your customers the ability to lookup shipping rates based on their current basket!

*NEW You can now embed the tiny cart within static pages outside of Miva Merchant by using IFRAME like so: Add this product to your basket and then reload this page to see an example. This example has been customized with the easy-to-use admin interface, css, etc.

17 Search Engine Tracker Copernicus / Miva Central

The Search Engine Tracker is a logging module that helps the storeowner understand and quantify a Search Engine marketing campaign or the current status of search engine positioning. Graphs and “sortable” reports make it easy for you to analyze the data being collected about your search engine campaigns. This module separately tracks click-throughs and buy-throughs so you can determine which search engines and paid listing sources are worth the investment.

    • Monthly click-through and buy-through graph! At a glance you can see the total number of click-throughs or buy-throughs of each day in the month.
    • Keyword Summary Report: this report lists the top keywords/phrases and tallies the number of click-throughs and buy-throughs associated with each keyword/phrase. You can sort this data by keyword/phrase.
    • Engine/Referral Summary Report: this report lists the top referral search engines and tallies the number of click-throughs and buy-throughs coming from each of the top search engines.
    • Raw Log display: You can view all of the data collected over time and also view the most recent click-throughs and buy-throughs.
*Note: Search engine click-throughs that do not go directly into your Merchant store (i.e. they first go through a non-Merchant page such as index.html) will not be tracked in these statistics as a click-through from a specific search engine unless you use the Pass-Through API. You can set up the JavaScript Pass Through API in your static HTML pages so the Search Engine Tracker will recognize and track all click-throughs, even if the customer first lands on a static HTML page when entering your site.

Example Usage
A storefront that sells cakes and jelly beans online has come to the conclusion that investing in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a wise investment of his marketing dollars. The storefront owner has decided to invest in increasing his rankings with the search engines by optimizing his site and has even decided he wants to pay for “paid source listings.” However, before he invests in SEO, he wants to make sure that he can track his investment. He wants to know how many Click-throughs and Buy-throughs he is getting from each search engine and he wants to know what key words are drawing in the highest amount of hits. And, since he’s decided to pay for clicks, he definitely wants to be able to track which of the sources are performing the best. Without this date, he’ll never know which of his SEO efforts are the most profitable for him and can’t analyze which ones to keep and which ones to drop.

The Solution: The storefront owner’s need for data to analyze his SEO investment is quickly solved with the Search Engine Tracker. This plug-in module to Miva Merchant allows the storefront owner to track Click-throughs and Buy-throughs in total, by search engine, by (storefront owner-defined) keyword and even allows him to track paid Click-throughs and Buy-throughs. The module graphs out total Click-throughs and Buy-throughs and gives the storefront owner the ability to sort through the data collected by search engine, keyword, and paid listings. And, just in case he wants to track a search engine that isn’t already included in the module, he can add all the search engines he wants to track! 18 Vendor Notification Email truXoft / Miva Central

With MmVENDOR you can define individual notification for each of your suppliers so that he automatically receives notification about products assotiated with him upon the purchase. Unlimited number of individual notifications may be defined and each vendor receives the notification only if a product associated with him is included. Products not assigned to the respective vendor are being filtered out.

Merchant users and owners often complain about the readability of the notification e-mail. They are not aware of the fact that classical e-mail protocol ( SMTP ) does not have any text formatting features. For these reasons, IT professionals use to set their mail clients to display messages in a fixed width font. That allows seeing formatting of such texts like Miva Merchant notification e-mail, without any hassle.

There is also the possibility to send e-mail messages for example in the HTML format. HTML is supported by all current major mail clients. Among IT professionals, the HTML e-mail is not too popular, because of related security problems in some client versions, because of increasing the transferred data volumes, and maybe because of few other reasons.

However, HTML offers possibilities not available with plain SMTP and the formatting is often requested feature. The way MmVENDOR module implements the HTML format is secure for both sides and the transferred data is only slightly higher than at a plain-text message (in contrary to messages formatted within Outlook or other clients, where the volume may be easily the multiple of the original size).

MmVENDOR allows you to customize the look and feel of the notification message. You can change colors, fonts, sizes, add logos, images, formatted text and anything else you may need.

  • A feature-rich and fully formatted e-mail notification automatically sent to each of your suppliers
  • Each vendor receives notification only for products associated with him (individual product codes or partial matches with wildcards)
  • All parameters for each vendor independent on other vendor settings
  • You can define unlimited number of profiles for your suppliers, each with individual settings
  • Optionally sends order information by HTML formatted e-mail or as plain text
  • Allows custom formatting of the notification: header, footer, font sizes, colors, embeded images,...
  • Optionally sends payment details. The first 4 digits of the CC number may be transfered. Please use the MmPGP for secure transfer of the entire CC#.
  • Optionally sends detailed user data including the IP address, host, agent, language, etc.
  • Optionally values of predefined form field variables from 4th party modules may be displayed in the notification.
  • Customizable table design - free choice of fields/columns
  • Product thumbnails may be included in the invoice!
  • Long product descriptions may be used in addition to product names
  • Variable tokens available in subject, header and footer
  • Product cost instead of the product price may be displayed.
  • Totals are calculated for each vendor separately.
  • Ordered products may be sorted by any column
  • Additional user-defined column may be inserted in the invoice (any position). Miva variables, functions or file calls may be used to generate values for the additional column. It may contain for example a download link, price in a second currency, tracking info, etc.
  • Several options for different ways of displaying product attributes (same line, new lines, autoselection)
  • Adds the order ID number or other variables into the subject of the e-mail for better tracking
  • Optionally sets the customer's e-mail address into the From field so, that it works on most mailservers (in contrary to the standard Merchant's notification module)
  • Supports POP before SMTP - requirements at some secured mailservers
  • Can display additional form fields like those of the Addednum or some other third party modules
  • Notification including the CC numbers may be sent encrypted, in cooperation with the MmPGP module
  • Both succesfull and unsuccesfull e-mail attempts are logged. The log file may be viewed in the MmVENDOR Admin control panel and unsucessfull notifications are accessible through the Ultra Batch Report
  • Optionally hides zero charges (tax, shipping,...)
  • Optionally displays subtotals
  • Time zone setting and user-defined date and time format
  • Supports Miva Merchant 2, 3 and 4 on Unix and Windows platforms
  • Both English and German localizations available (others may be done on request)
