The StatCat module is both an admin module and a basket interface module. The primary purpose of StatCat is to generate static catalog pages (indexes and sub-pages) directly from your Miva Merchant products and category databases so that search engines will add your pages to their index. Presumably this will allow customers to find your store amongst the millions of web sites on the Internet. As such, the pages generated are basic html pages with links to sub-pages, basket page and individual product pages in your Miva Merchant system. Each page contains your store title, meta description, meta keywords, footers along with the products. Category pages also contain category headers and footers.
Although these are static html pages, they have direct links which allow customers to add the products to their basket which is maintained in your Miva Merchant shopping cart system. If you are using the CIM Inventory Manager or Miva Corp's new Inventory Manager (in Merchant 4.x), it will even check the stock level and return an out of stock message if stock level is depleted
** Caution: If you are using Merchant 4.0 and its Inventory Management system that deducts products from inventory when they are placed in the basket, you should select to NOT use the Add to Basket buttons if you have one-of-a-kind items. The reason for this is that some robots and other indexing software may even follow links which contain the ? and & characters. This could result in the stock level decrementing to zero and out-of-stock emails being sent. The products won't be removed from inventory completely, as they will be re-stocked when you run the Admin:Delete Expired Shopping Baskets. This undesirable situation does not exist in Merchant versions 2.x or 3.x. It is also not a problem in Merchant 4.x if your store does not use the Miva Corp Inventory Management or your product stock levels are not likely to be depleted with one or two passes of the indexing program.
The store owner determines which page the customer will go to when they select to add a product to the basket. They can be taken either to the basket for review or back to the static page they just selected from. Both processes are automatic and do not require Javascript or meta refresh routines. Either click through destination can be used on either of the sort options, store owner choice. In addition to the functionality of this module, it provides an excellent example of how to interface static pages with the Miva Merchant system with return to the correct static page.
Quick links on each sub-page allow the customer to return to the index or go straight to their basket for review and checkout.
Below the sub-pages the store owner can even generate individual product pages. These product pages contain the full sized image and description. If the store uses the Flexible Product Description module and the product record contains a Keyword field, those product specific keywords are added to the store's generic keywords which are already in all of the static pages.
The store owner can decide whether to display the price for each item on the static pages. Since these pages are static and cannot function interactively to determine customer price groups or discounts, the hide price routine has its place. However, if the store has no price groups and discounts are calculated on basket totals or discount coupons, the price listing is useful.
The static pages also have no way to restrict access. So if your store is one which does not allow certain products to be shown to all customers, then this module is not for you, unless you can place all of those restricted products in specific categories. In which case, you could then sort pages by category and simply delete those categories' pages.
This module is for Miva Merchant 2.x, 3.x and 4.x. It works with both the Miva Merchant look and feel (mmui.mv) and the OpenUI look and feel (oui.mv). If using the mmui.mv, there are two edits that need to be made to the mmui.mv file.
StatCat produces pages similar (mirror) to the layout in Miva Merchant with admin control. The following configuration settings are made within the standard Miva Merchant admin interface: Page title, home URL, optional title/store logo, title background color, title foreground color, category title header size, number of product columns on the category sort page, Meta description of the site, Meta keywords on the site, return action after adding a product to the basket, option to hide the prices, category column background color, category column foreground color, category column font, category column size, product background color in the category sorted pages, product foreground color in the category sorted pages, product font and size in the category sorted pages, optional display of thumbnail images in the category sorted pages, store front page welcome screen, search button input, product descriptions on category pages, and page footer.
Once generated, the index pages can be linked to your main home page. The catalog can be left in the directory it is generated in or copied to any web site (or multiple web sites) to increase search engine visibility. The links to images and back to your Merchant.mv store will work across servers. An example of this remote distribution can be seen at my Yahoo/Simplenet web site. The limitation to the remote distribution is that these remote static pages are one way, ie. placing a product in the basket will take the customer to the main Merchant.mv, but not back to the remote static page. They would then continue shopping in Merchant.mv. This limitation exists only if the static pages are not in their original catalog directory. If they are in the catalog directory on the local server with Merchant.mv, then return to the static pages is one of your options in admin.
The StatCat also has the ability to generate static pages which can be placed on a disk and used as a catalog which can be mailed or given out to potential customers. When using this option, links to your web site or the shopping cart are suppressed. An example of this type of catalog can be seen online. It has no links to the cart and the images are virtual to the static html pages.
When generating the catalog, the store owner has the option of restricting the html output to a list of specific categories. This is particularly useful when the store owner wants to place their static pages on remote servers which have specific themes in a mall environment. Some categories may "fit in" and some may not. This also might be useful if you want to create disks with only certain categories of products on them to be given to customers.
Note 1: StatCat uses the first letter of the product name to name the sub-pages. If you use illegal characters for the first letter of product names, you will not be able to generate the by-name catalog. An example would be the left bracket, as some might have put the font tag at the beginning of the product name. If that is the case, use the by-category catalog.
Note 2: If you have an excessively large products database, you will probably not be able to run StatCat on a server without timing out. However, you should be able to run it in MivaMia if you have a mirror of your store on your PC. You would then need to upload the static pages manually. This store of 600 products took about 5 seconds to generate the category pages.
Click through returns to the originating static page after addition (alternatively you can have it remain at the merchant.mv basket)
This example contains StatCat generated individual product pages
Several new features have been added to the compiled version; background image, functional navigation bar, "smart" metatags, extensive implementation of keyword and header and footer usage, product page names can be product code or name ending with html, inclusion of product links at the top or bottom listed as featured products or similar designation, include any fields in the products database on product pages (including modified structure), optionally hide subcategories on category pages as applicable, additional product page links such as "check availability or latest prices", and export to any directory within the store's path (creates directory if it does not exist). Discontinued (inactive) products can continue to have modified static pages generated so that search engine links remain viable, yet do not result in errors when linked to the store. Additionally, affiliate codes can be included with every link so that the static catalog pages can be given to affiliates who wish to mirror your catalog at their site. If you are using the OpenUI, StatCat adds "smart" metatags to your merchant.mv so that when the customers (and search engines) click from your static pages to your actual store, the pages will contain metatags related to category headers, product descriptions and product keywords (if used). It also reverses the title tag with the category and product screens so that the category or product name appear first, then the store name. If your store has our Volume Pricing module version (4.53 or higher) installed, StatCat can optionally include the volume price table on the static pages. When creating the static product pages, a flat file is created in the background which can be used for a data feed file for submission to FroogleTM. It contains the header and data for the basic file format.
Have you ever wondered why you're not getting massive hits on your Miva Merchant Store when you have the best prices on the Internet? Ever searched the internet through a search engine only to find that some ancient, inefficient and cumbersome old site is getting all the hits that you deserve?
Well now its time to get serious, its time to get even... its time to bring in the Search Engine KILLER.
THE PROBLEM merchant.mv?thisandthat
The problem with Miva Merchant and other database driven stores is that the technology used to access and display the product information is NOT search engine friendly.. In fact, most search engines will ignore EVERY PAGE of your eStore!
Someone somewhere made the decision that URLs with arguments, information passed long with the URL eg. file.mv?argument1&argument2 etc, indicates that the page isn't worth indexing, but these arguments are essential to any database driven store. Some search engines even refuse to index pages that are .mv! (Northern Light for one).
As a result, your state of the art Miva Merchant Store is missing out on major search engine exposure, and your competitors lousy mall which they hand create using FrontPage97 is getting all the hits.. JUST BECAUSE EVERY PAGE IS A STATIC HTML PAGE.
In an ideal world, what you need is the sophistication of your Miva Merchant Mall and the search engine pulling power of a good old HTML site too.
THE SOLUTION Now YOU can live in that ideal world!
Search Engine Killer (or SEK for short) is perhaps the most significant software release for Merchant stores EVER!
While it adds NOTHING to the functionality of Merchant, it wages war on search engines - those sites who may well decide how much money you make next month.
It is a sophisticated complementary product which runs seperately from Merchant, but knows everything about your store!
The mirror site is:
100% HTML
Designed with the Search Engine in mind using the Title tag, Meta Tags, text placement, IMG ALT attributes and more to get you the best possible search engine ranking.
automatically generates HTML pages from the information stored within Merchant:
- an index.html page for submition to search engines with a link to every other generated page - an html page for each category and subcategory, eg. your_category_code.html which lists every product and links to.. - an html page for each product
product pictures througout! The SEK Mirror references the URL of the product images already online in your real merchant store!
multiple links on every html page to both the SEK Mirror pages (so that the search engines find and index every single page) and directly to your Merchant Mall..
dynamic referencing technology is used so that the links back to your Miva Merchant Mall are context sensitive. eg. SEK Mirror product pages click straight through to the appropriate BUY ONE page in your real Merchant Store!
remembers your previous preferences to allow ultra-fast regeneration after significant changes to your mall
SAME NAMING CONVENTIONS AS SEK1
the html files generated are named using the Merchant Category and Product codes you have specified in Merchnat so that even after a new mirror is generated the Search Engines find previously indexed files.
Even if search engines DID spider every page of your Merchant Store, there is NO WAY that it would get the same high rankings. Your SEK Mirrors site is built from the ground up with search engines in mind by a developer with many years of experience in site promotion.
and here is the trick..
EVERY PAGE IS DESIGNED TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT IT IS YOUR STORE WHEN IT IS REALLY JUST A TEASER PAGE
What will it mean to your business to be able to submit a single html page to search engines and have their spider catalog every category and product you have?
How would you like to be able to strengthen your position by submitting an html page for each category that can also be submitted seperately?
Now you can have greater control of Merchant functionality by seamlessly integrating external files and scripts into any of MIVA Merchant pages. This module provides store administrators and developers an ability to insert and manage content and/or execute scripts outside the Merchant system. You can even insert content from another server or domain connected to the internet. The module provides a way to insert/execute files in various ways; by inserting a content file(HTML or TEXT)) located in a script or data directories, executing a compiled MIVA Script(.mvc) file directly or with a required function, and calling a file or script loacated on the same server or another server. If you are familiar with MIVA Scripting language, this module gives you an ability to access and control Merchant arrays, global and local variables, data files, etc., without creating a custom component module. Just plug-in your Item Call to a file into any Merchant Template and customize the execution inside your file.
The ADS External File Pro Module Features:
Module automatically creates and configures the necessary item, when installed.
Smart Item monitoringp rovides quick access to Pages where the Item is used.
You can insert an appropriate Render Token in any page related template(s) to utilize module features.
Render Tokens can be used in Page Templates, Product List Layouts, Messages, Headers, Footers, etc..
Module includes five Render Tokens in order to provide various methods for inserting and/or executing external files and scripts. Depending on the type of a Token used, additional Parameter Information may also be included.
readscript - Token provides a way to read and render an external file located in the script directory, on the same server as Merchant installation. The inserted file may contain HTML or TEXT content, but does not have to use a specific file extension.
readdata - Token provides a way to read and render an external file located in the data directory, on the same server as Merchant installation. Since an external file is located in the Data directory, it would normally not be accessible by the public. You can use this functionality to display content not directly available. You can also use this feature with Merchant Availability Groups to insert specific content only available to that Availability Group members. The inserted file may contain HTML or TEXT content, but does not have to use a specific file extension.
run - Token provides a way to execute an external, compiled, MIVA Script file (.mvc) located in the script directory, on the same server as Merchant installation. There are no Function requirements in this method and only Global Merchant variables will be available.
function - Token provides a way to execute an external, compiled, MivaScript file (.mvc) located in the script directory, on the same server as Merchant installation. A Specific Function with parameters is used. Merchant Global, All_Settings, Settings, Module, Item and passed Parameter variables will be available to this function. An uncomiled MIVA Script file containing example Function is included with Module distribution. This function also contains an example Breadcrumb Navigation script which can be used on Category and Product Pages.
call - Token provides a way to call(read/execute) and render an external file located on any server, accessible through an HTTP call. Youc an also use this functionality to execute external script files. These files can be MIVA, PHP, ASP, FLASH, Perl, JAVA, CFM, etc..
Please Contact Us with any questions about module features.
Module installation and functionality has the following requirements:
MIVA Merchant Version 5.x
Settings and control this module provides are used in conjunction with a pre-installed ads-extfile Item, any Merchant related templates and an external customer supplied file.
MIVA Script Compiler is required to create and use executable MIVA Script files(.mvc). The compiler is available for a free download from MIVA.
HTML and Merchant templatescripting knowledge is required to make template modifications. MIVA orother Scripting language knowledge is required to create executable files. If you do not have these skills it is recommended you contactADS representative to get assistance with template design and customization.
MmDbDOC - truXoft Data Doctor and Miva Database Editor
MmDbDOC is a tool for testing and repairing corrupted databases and database indexes. It allows you to remove duplicate records from any Merchant or non-Merchant database quickly and without downloading or importing them, directly through the Miva Merchant Admin web interface. There are three different ways of the duplicate records repair:
manual selection - you can select which of the duplicate records you keep, and remove the remaining one(s)
manual editing - you can edit the duplicates so that you keep several or all of them in the database but change the unique identifier field(s) so that the duplicate key in the index is avoided
fully automated - MmDbDOC will automatically remove all duplicate records from the selected database, keeping always the first found record in the duplicate set
MmDbDOC can be also used for viewing databases. This feature is invaluable for quick database verification, for retrieving data not accessible through Miva Merchant Admin (i.e. customer passwords, module settings, basket data, affiliate data, ...). Please note: We recommend viewing the raw databases containing sensitive data (passwords, email addresses, payment data) in secure mode only (SSL / https).
The PRO version includes a full featured database editor for modifying any Miva Merchant or 3rd party database tables. Fields may be quickly modified without downloading or exporting any data. New records may be added or old ones deleted. You can duplicate whole blocks of records with a simple click and edit them afterwards.

Please note: truXoft Ultra Batch is required for the full functionality of the standard or PRO versions. The free version of Ultra Batch that comes with MmDbDOC, allows you to see maximally up to three records at a time.
Support
truXoft offers limited free support within 30 days after the purchase of the module. Issues not included in the free support:
Information about the structure of Miva Merchant databases
Information about individual database tables or the database fields
Information about relations between individual Miva Merchant database tables
Help with repairing or editing of databases
Any other issues not directly related to MmDbDOC
Important note: The database editor in the PRO version was designed for advanced users who understand the basic structure of Miva Merchant databases. MmDbDOC allows you to edit the raw data, but makes no verification of the data you added, modified or removed. If multiple tables are in a relation, it is the user who has to insure to edit all related tables appropriately to avoid breaking the cross table links. Unqualified editing of the databases may corrupt the store. We highly recommend backing up the entire domain and store data before removing duplicate records (repair) or before editing the databases. truXoft bears absolutely no liability in case of loss of data, corrupted databases or a broken Miva Merchant store. If any such case should occur, please restore the original data from the backup.
After repairing or editing any database, you have to pack both domain and store data in Admin!
Instructions
Installation instrucitons may be found in the readme.txt included in the distribution package. After registering your license key, in Ultra Batch (Xadmin) screen in the main frame of Miva Merchant Admin, click on the tab "databases", select the mode "database list" and click the OK button. Ultra Batch will show you the list of all pre-defined databases.
If a corrupted database with duplicate records is detected, the "Repair" button appears right in the line of the concerned database. By clicking it, you access the repair interface and see the first found set of duplicate records.
You can either:
select the record you want to keep (click "KEEP Selected"),
or edit the records to avoid the duplicate key (edit the fields with light blue background so that the resulting key is different at each record) and click the button "Keep multiple"
or let MmDbDOC repair the database unattended (click "Automated Repair")
In case of manual repair, as described above in 1) and 2), you have to repeat the operation with each duplicate set individually. Normally, you should use the default mode of Ultra Batch hiding deleted records - select "standard" in the first small dropdown box in the right part of the Ultra Batch control panel. In case you use the mode "all", you'll have to navigate through the duplicate sets with the help of the navigation buttons right below the Ultra Batch control panel.
The navigation buttons can be used also when you want to preview all duplicate sets before starting to repair them. Please note that the filter expression (top left) and pagination (top right) of Ultra Batch have influence on the MmDbDOC output. When low numbers are selected in the pagination in sake of faster page loads, use the navigation buttons to proceed to the next page. It applies also for the database list, not only for the repair and edit interface of MmDbDOC.
Before starting to repair or edit databases with MmDbDOC, it is recommended to put the store into maintenance mode. Use the first button (the lock) in the Ultra Batch panel to close and re-open the store. We also highly recommend to back up the entire Miva Data directory containing the databases, before performing any operation on the data with MmDbDOC.
If you experience a runtime error in the store front or Admin, where the message speaks about a database index, copy the message, and after opening the mode "parse error" in the "databases" tab of Ultra Batch, paste the error into the displayed field. MmDbDOC will look up the databases and launch the repair interface.
In case you need to repair a database not listed, you can select the "3rd party dB" mode and enter the database and index paths manually to start the repair function.
Database viewer (demo and standard versions), or the database editor (PRO version) can be launched by clicking the requested database alias in the database list.
IMPORTANT: after repairing or editing any database, you have to pack both domain and store data in Admin!

License and Return Policies
Each license of an MmDIAG module is bind to a single domain name. You need a separate license for each domain, or even for each subdomain. Because of the character of the module, used license keys cannot be reset or returned, and the domain name assigned to the license key cannot be modified. When you change the domain name, you will need a new license key.
In some cases, when the secure pages reside on a different base domain than the main site, you will be able to run the tests only in one of the modes - the one where you run the test the first time after registering the license key. Also, using MmDIAG on a plain numeric IP address instead of the full domain name may lead to licensing problems. When the domain name does not yet resolve to the specified IP address at the time of the installation, the domain will not be associated with the license key and MmDIAG will continue to work only with the initial IP address. When accessing MmDIAG (Merchant Admin) through the domain name, changes of IP addresses are allowed though.
The number of stores in Miva Merchant is not important though, since the module runs from Admin's main page regardless of the store selection. Displayed results would be practically identical for any store in a Miva Merchant mall. A single license per mall is sufficient.
Important Privacy Note
MmDIAG transfers some of the test results (but far not all) to truXoft's server, where they are used in the Miva Host Ranking. No personal data, email addresses, names, or otherwise sensitive data are being transmitted (except of the domain name and IP address). The data transmission can be disabled in the standard and PRO versions, but not in an unregistered MmDIAG. If you do not wish that any test results are sent to truXoft, please do not use the module until you register a valid license key and disable the option in MmDIAG's configuration screen in the Store Utilities menu of Miva Merchant Admin.
After the installation, truXoft's robot may contact MmDIAG irregularly (very few times per month) to obtain a new set of results for the Miva Host ranking. If you want to exclude your domain from the host ranking and want to deny access to the robot, you can disable it in the configuration of the module.
Installation Note
MmDIAG may be installed with or without Miva Merchant. Although the standalone installation is possible and as easy as just dropping the file anywhere in the web area of your server, the preferable method is installing it through Miva Merchant Admin. Some tests of MmDIAG are possible only in the MM Admin and not available in the standalone version. Detailed installation instructions come in the readme.txt file shipped with the module.
During the installation, all necessary truXoft libraries are downloaded and all truXoft modules become available in Admin's menus. For the best functionality of MmDIAG, you can enable the free version of the Data Doctor module in Store Utilities. MmDIAG is run from the Ultra Batch (aka Xadmin) control panel at the top of Miva Merchant's main page. All other truXoft modules can be either used in their free versions without restrictions, or they can be removed from Admin menus through truXoft System Configuration in Store Utilities. Ultra Batch cannot be removed, but the control panel can be minimized by clicking the respective icon in its top right corner, and maximized only when needed. None of the modules influences the functionality of your store in any way, and they do not interact with any other standard or 3rd party modules. The mentioned modules (MmDIAG, Ultra Batch, Data Doctor) are actually never being triggered in the store front, they are strictly back-end applications.
Take a look over the shoulder of a Miva Merchant professional as he takes you through every step, every module (almost), every function. Complete with "live" comments unedited, you'll learn while feeling like you're sitting next to a Miva Guru.
This tutorial subscription is different than all other Miva Merchant training methods because it is constantly updated, there are OpenUI and MMUI tutorials, as well as extensive tutorials on most popular third party modules, including offline products like Storeman. With the cooperation of third party developers, when a module is updated, or a new module is released, Merchant How To will create a new tutorial.
And more as it is released. Click the link to see examples of tutorials.
NOTES: Please allow up to 24 hours for activation. Tutorial Flash files can be large, so it is recommended that you have a broadband Internet connection to enjoy the tutorials. This tutorial subscription is new, so not all tutorials listed at MerchantHowTo.com are immediately available. Also, since this subscription is essentially electronic distribution of knowledge, and since there are several examples and a list of tutorials available prior to purchase, no refunds can be granted on these tutorials.
As a Miva Merchant storefront licensee, you have discovered that you have a powerful shopping cartsystem. One of the strengths of Miva Merchant is its ability to plugin 3rd party modules to provideoff-the-shelf, additional features at reasonable cost. You may have found that the cost can quicklyadd up and you are not exactly sure which additional features would be of benefit. We haveassembled a bundle of eleven of our most popular plugin modules. Literally hundreds of storeshave found these to be the "must have" modules. As this is a bundle, it's cumulative price is about 33% less than the sum of the individual module prices.
The modules in this bundle can be classified as storefront enhancement, discount, checkout, search engine optimization, and administrative back-end modules. The detailed modulefeatures and capabilities can be reviewed by clicking on the module names in the componentslist below. Please review each of the individual product descriptions so you fully understandwhat is included before selecting this bundle deal.
Non-refundable: Due to the number of popular modules included in this bundle, thisbundle deal is not refundable.
Compiled MIVA Merchant 5 only: This specific bundle is only available for MIVA Merchant 5 andnewer. As it is a starter kit, nobody should be creating new stores with older versions of MivaMerchant anyway. However, if you are looking for a starter kit for compiled Merchant 4.x, take a look at our other starter kit bundle.
The modules currently fully support the mivasql configuration of MIVA Merchant 5. They also support MySQL as long as load balancing has the data stored on the single MySQL server. This would be the case in most of the server setups. For those that are not, we are in the process of converting the code for that remaining, very small group of MIVA Merchant stores. At this time we have not had a problem. Modules will be moved to the top of the queue as needed.
QwkPatch protects merchants against various Miva Merchant bugs, such as duplicate order numbers, and exploits and validation limitations, such as hackers being able to checkout without paying, by doing additional system checks at various points during the shoppers visit in the store.
QwkPatch has a fully configurable error screen which accepts a token for display of the specific configurable error message returned when a given patch is triggered. For 4.x the error screen even automatically includes the normal page wrap, such as the global header, footer, and navigation for whatever user interface module you have installed.
Current QwkPatch Release: 2.00
Miva Merchant Compatibility: 2.22 - 4.22
QwkPatch has been extensively tested on Miva Merchant versions 2.25, 3.02, 4.12, 4.13, and 4.22. QwkPatch should work on all versions above 2.2 baring possible unknown bugs in various versions of Miva Merchant. On 2.x versions below 2.2 some of the patches may still work, but due to API limitations, and general instability with Miva Merchant versions below 2.2 we can't support use of the software on versions below 2.2. So if you want to try it, you do so at your own risk.
Miva Merchant 1.x can't use the software at all, because the API simply doesn't support it. So if you have a Miva Merchant 1.x store you want protected, you would have to have custom modifications done.
QwkPatch 2.00 Patch List
Patch 1 - Payment Module Installed Check This patch does a check to make sure the payment method submitted for payment authorization is for a valid module installed in the store. Without this patch it is possible under certain circumstances for shoppers to bypass the need to enter in any payment information such as a credit card number, and skip right to the invoice. Without the patch you must therefore be very careful to manually cross reference all your orders to make sure you don't ship something that wasn't paid for. Also if you do any sort of electronic fulfillment, such as selling software, images, etc. then shoppers using this exploit would get the products before you even noticed there was a problem. This patch is not required if you are using Miva Merchant 4.16 or higher.
Patch 2 - Add To Basket Availability Group Check This patch stops shoppers from being able to add an item to their basket that is part of an availability group they don't belong to. Without this patch it is possible for a shopper to add such an item to the basket, even if they haven't created a customer account, much less been assigned to the availability group.
Patch 3 - Upsale Item Manual Basket Add Check This patch stops shoppers from manually adding an upsale item to their basket. If you use upsale you probably have worked hard to make sure certain free, or steeply discounted items are only presented to the shopper during checkout when they have certain items in their basket, and/or have met certain minimum purchase requirements. Without this patch a shopper can modify the url to manually add an upsale item to their basket. When doing so they can even get an item that was discounted to $0.00 which should have only been available with the purchase of specific expensive other items. If the free upsale item is the only thing they add to their basket they can even bypass the shipping, tax, and payment options and jump straight to the invoice.
Patch 4 - Shipping Module Installed Check This patch does a check to make sure the shipping method submitted is for a valid module installed in the store. Without this patch it is possible for shoppers to bypass the shipping calculations and not pay any shipping charges on the order. Without the patch you must therefore be very careful to manually cross reference all your orders to make sure you don't ship something that didn't have the shipping charges paid for. This patch is not required if you are using Miva Merchant 4.16 or higher.
Patch 5 - Shipping Charge Check This patch makes sure a shipping charge was actually added to the basket charges table. It is okay if the charge was set at a zero price because you offer free shipping under certain circumstances, but this patch makes sure a shipping module actually made that decision and added a zero charge, rather than there being no charge in the table. Without the patch you must therefore be very careful to manually cross reference all your orders to make sure you don't ship something that didn't have the shipping charges paid for. This patch is not required if you are using Miva Merchant 4.16 or higher.
Patch 6 - Tax Charge Check This patch makes sure a tax charge was actually added to the basket charges table. It is okay if the charge was set at a zero price because no tax was required based on your tax module configurations, but his patch makes sure your tax module actually made that decision and added a zero charge, rather than there being no charge in the table. Without the patch you must therefore be very careful to manually cross reference all your orders to make sure you don't ship something which you didn't collect the proper taxes on. This patch is not required if you are using Miva Merchant 4.16 or higher.
Patch 7 - Affiliate Status Check This patch stops affiliates from changing their status, or new affiliates from creating their account with a status of their choice. Without this patch it is posisble for affiliates that have not been approved yet, to change their status so that they are approved, or for new affiliates to set their initial status as approved. This patch is meaningless if you are using a version of Miva Merchant lower than 4.x.
Patch 8 - Duplicate Order ID Check This patch helps prevent duplicate order numbers from being added to the orders database. Without this patch there are various circumstances that can cause duplicate order numbers to get entered into the orders database. To be clear, this patch doesn't stop duplicate order ids from being issued, nor does it prevent the automatic recovery of order numbers to the orphans database, what it does is generates a new order id for the about to be created order if the order id exists in the orders database.

Common Questions:
Is the complete book the same as the current Beginner's Guide? Somewhat. The core elements of the book, including instructions and step-by-step details is covered. The book, however, does contain additional information on ecommerce, Miva Marketplace, and resources. It is also a hard-bound, printed book.
What if I'm a version 3.x or 2.x user? Most features upgraded through version 4.x are handled the same way via the admin, so users of versions 2.x and 3.x can benefit.
Does the book cover coding? No. The book does cover basic elements of HTML, and link usage for stores, but custom coding is not taught in this book.

If you don't know which OpenUI product you need, then THIS IS THE ONE!
The OpenUI Advanced (formerly OpenUI Standard) is ULTIMATE enhancement for your Miva Merchant store! Too many features to even begin to list, and all for a VERY LOW PRICE!! It gives you all of the features you are already used to from OpenUI Look & Feel Basic, and the following addons are include:
And the new OpenUI Turbo (double your OpenTokens speed!)
The OpenUI Look & Feel module replaces your MMUI module and provides central 'hooks' through which module developers may easily add features and performance enhancing solutions without having to reinvent the wheel with each Merchant release.
UDPATED VERSION - NEW AND IMPROVED!
We went all out with this latest release of the OpenUI. We have included the following enhancements:
OpenBatches™ - This simplifies order processing in Miva Merchant like never before. You no longer have to go back and forth between the left-hand tree and right-hand main window. From the right hand main window, searchable lists allow you to search, view, edit, or delete batches. This screen also allows you to view orders within a particular batch via OpenOrders™, shows if you have new orders, and even enables you to create a new batch. This all happens from ONE interface.
OpenOrders™ - Using the main window, you now have a searchable order list that allows you to filter by all orders, only unbatched orders, or by orders within an individual batch. You can further filter by order number, product code, order total range, and by date and time range. From this screen, you can also edit and delete individual orders. Once again, this all happens in ONE interface.
An optional statistics interface that works with both the OpenBatches™ and OpenOrders™can be unlocked with the purchase of an OpenUI Pro license key. Find out your top sellers, revenue generators, sales by the hour and day, and much MORE! Read More Detailed Information!
This additional license key is solely for statistics features and will have NO impact on existing or future OpenUI installations. All stores will continue to function with the same capabilities as before and include the great features listed below.
Shorter URLS for Google - It was recently announced in a newsletter geared toward search engines and Miva Merchant that category and product pages without the store code in the url were being readily indexed by the top search engine in the world, Google. If you only have one store, the OpenUI will automatically remove the store code from all urls in the category tree, product list, search results, and basket contents screen. If you have two stores, your store code will remain in the url.
Example:Instead of merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CODE&Category_Code=CATEGORY, it will be: merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=CATEGORY This applies to compiled stores with the mvc extension as well.
Feature added based on recommendations from JMH Web Services (jmhonline.net). *This information has been updated to reflect new findings from JMH. Google now does not have a problem with the store code.
Category and Product Names First in Title Tags- Miva Merchant and previously the OpenUI put your store name before the category and product names in their respective screens title tag (i.e. Store Name: Category or Product Name). Depending on the length of your store name, your category and product titles may not be appearing in your search engine listings title phrase! With the new and improved OpenUI, your category and product titles will be first in the title tag, resulting in better listings within search engines (i.e.Category or Product Title: Store Name).
Feature added based on recommendations from JMH Web Services (jmhonline.net).
A New (Optional) Interface for the Miva Merchant Navigation Bar (navbar)- You now have better (and more) control over which navigation buttons are displayed, as well as many other features including:
Ability to specify cellpadding and cellspacing of navbar.
Optional navbar background image.
Options to align navbar (i.e. Full, Center, Left, Right).
Ability to change navbar buttons including the logo to space, text, etc.
Token replacement in the Cell "links" can be done using the %VAR(varname )% convention. For example, to include the g.sessionurl, just use "%VAR(g.sessionurl)%". To include the store id, use "%VAR(Stores.d.id)%". Most available variables can be used, but they will all be filtered through the encodeentities() function before they are substituted.
Feature added based on recommendations from Rich Chatfield (customMvDesign.com).
Support for New Attribute Types Built-In- New Attribute Types were previously only supported in the uncompiled versions of Miva Merchant, but will now be in both the compiled and uncompiled versions, and will not require the Admin Extension installation.
Support for module Order Tabs Built-In- module Order Tabs were previously only supported in the uncompiled versions of Miva Merchant, but will now be in both the compiled and uncompiled versions, and will not require the Admin Extension installation.
Body and Head Tag Options - You don't need additional modules anymore for these two fields if you use the latest version of the OpenUI! Include javascript, cascading style sheets, meta tags, margin height and width, preload images, and much more. For example:
<Select One> Option for Drop-Down Lists - You can now include Select One as the default prompt for attributes, shipping options, and payment option drop-down lists. The default prompt is also customizable for each one. (i.e i.e <Choose Color>, <Select A Shipping Method>, <Select Payment Method>)
The OpenUI Look & Feel Pro License Key unlocks a special feature of the latest OpenUI module. Once you unlock this feature with your license, you will be able to see the total stats for the orders in one batch, all unbatched orders, or all orders regardless of classification. The stats page gives a total sales summary, and then breaks the total sales down by day-of-the-week and time of day (by the hour) the orders were made. The stats page also lists the top selling products and top revenue generators for the specified parameters. The stats are based on the filtering options you currently have set, allowing you to specify exactly what information you would like to generate. For example, if you are in the customer screen on the OpenOrders™ tab and click on the stats button, you will see the stats of that customer's order only. If you have filtered the orders based on the order total and the date range, then the stats will be based on this filter. The stats button gives you immense flexibility because it allows you to view stats using a single filter or any combination of filters. For example, you can see the top 20 products from those that purchased SOMEPRODUCT, or those that have spent over a designated amount....or use both filters. All these resources are available simply by clicking the stats button, which appears on both the OpenOrders™and OpenBatches™ screens.
This additional license key is solely for the new stats features and will have NO impact on existing or future Open UI installation. All stores will continue to function with the same capabilities as before. You can purchase a key by clicking here.
The Import/Export SuperMod™ provides advanced data imports and exports for all Miva Merchant databases, including the ability to directly import and export any 3rd party module databases. Any Miva Merchant database can be edited directly in any text editor, spreadsheet or desktop database program such as Microsoft Access and Excel.
Key Benefits Include:
Never purchase another import or export module again!
Export any Miva Merchant database to tab-delimited text file, including 3rd party module databases
Edit the text file using your favorite desktop application such as Microsoft™ NotePad, Excel or Access
Import the changes back into your Miva Merchant store
Provides Import/Export capability for modules that do not provide data imports or exports natively
Fix corrupted databases and store packing issues with a text editor
Time-out safe! Export and import large databases without any worries of the web server or browser timing out! Features automatic refreshing to cycle through large import files.
Miva Merchant storeowners now have a single import/export solution for handling any data transfer operation, regardless of the module provider or Miva Merchant feature. The Import/Export SuperMod can export any Miva Merchant database to flat file. The storeowner can then edit this file and re-import the changes!
Example Usage 1: Importing Large Product Databases Customers who have many products often have difficulty uploading all products through the standard Miva Merchant product import. Timeouts can prevent the import from completing, leaving the store in an unknown state. The Import/Export SuperMod provides timeout protection, and will allow the store-owner to load even the largest of product databases without timeout issues.
Example Usage 2: Fixing Duplicate Record Issues A common problem for some Miva Merchant users, duplicate database records or ids can cause significant operational issues within your Miva Merchant store. Until now, the only way to fix the duplicate records was to edit the Miva Database files by hand, which requires special purpose database software or contracting to a Miva consultant. The Import/Export SuperMod provides the storeowner with an easy way to edit and fix duplicate database records using any text editor, Excel or even Access.
Example Usage 3: Import and Export 3rd Party Module Data Many excellent third party modules exist that provide extended store functionality. However, many of these products do not contain an import/export function for configuration data. If the module allows configuration for each category or product, configuring it properly in a large store can be very time consuming using the Miva Merchant web interface. The Import/Export SuperMod allows the storeowner to export any database, including those from 3rd party modules! Now importing configuration data into any module database, regardless of the module vendor, can be accomplished
Please note: If you are using OpenDB, to be able to use this module you will also need to have installed MvSQL QUERY - available on MvCool for $15 or as a source kit for free on the CBS website.
